Cases Of Drugging Of Indians And Theft At The.........

Featured Replies

SOURCE: Pattaya City News: May 7th 2007

Two unconnected cases of theft from the same Hotel involving Indian Nationals.

Two stories now involving Indian Nationals from the same Hotel.

The first case comes from the Pattaya Center Hotel in South Pattaya. Police Major Sanae from Pattaya Police Station was called to investigate an apparent theft and drugging by a bar girl who the victim had taken back to his room.

The victim, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Bajaj aged 38, explained that he had picked up the working woman in front of the Hotel. The pair went to his room and the next thing the victim remembers is waking up the next morning.

60,000 Indian Rupees, 10,000 Thai Baht, 2 mobile phones and 2 digital cameras had been taken from the room. The Receptionist was able to provide Police with a copy of the suspect’s Thai ID Card which was taken upon her arrival. An arrest warrant has now been issued for Khun Chawaleeporn aged 27.

30 Minutes later, Police Major Sanae was called back to the same Hotel to investigate a suspected room theft. The room, occupied by Mr. Sarvisetty Venugopal Setty aged 42 and his family, had been broken into whilst the family were on a day trip to Larn Island.

There was evidence of a disturbance inside the room and personal items belonging to the family had been thrown on the floor. Items of considerable value had been taken from their suitcases including four diamond rings, two necklaces and two bracelets worth an estimated 200,000 Baht.

Police are now investigating both cases which are thought not to be connected.

Two questions, it strikes me as being odd that two indian nationals were involved in this, I don't think i have ever seen an indian person in Pattaya apart from the tailors. Maybe the hotel is used by a travel company like Thomas cooke. Secondly why would anyone keep all that money and jewellry in a suitcase? Safe's not available?

The second group heard about the first robbery and decided on an insurance scam.

(Purely speculation on my part)

There are plenty there. I was sitting on Beach Rd reading the paper last week while a couple of gentlemen from the sub-continent negotiated some entertainment. I also have encountered a number in the hotels.

Maybe you assume they are all in the fashion industry. :o
