This isn't over! EU warns it could still BLOCK Brexit trade deal as MEPs mock British MPs

SENIOR MEPs have vowed not to be hoodwinked into backing the Brexit trade deal like their British counterparts.

The European Parliament’s influential international trade committee said they would scrutinise each and every “loose end” in the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement before giving it their sign off. A special plenary is set to be held by MEPs around February 23 to finally vote on the future relationship pact after it was agreed on Christmas Eve. They vowed to pour over the 1,200-page document and highlight any inconsistencies ahead of the ballot to rubber-stamp the pact.

Yes indeed the deal is not legally signed yet ..... just pointing it out , that the procedure on E.U. side is different than the quick rubber stamped one on U.K. side to make Boris dressed "father Christmas" outfit  in Britain ....

Spain's Costa del Sol as a result of Brexit

Britons living in Spain now have to prove they have an income of at least £2,000 per month and even more for families. Households will need to show they have an extra £500 a month for each member of the family so a family of four will need to prove they bring in at least £42,000 a year.

These requirements are for anyone moving to Spain after January 1st 2021 anyone living in Spain before that date different rules apply

According to Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) Spain and Brexpats in Spain, the minimum annual amounts required as of 2020 for residency applications for citizens of the EU, EEA and Switzerland are as follows:

Individual: €5,538

The Withdrawal Agreement and the Royal Decree covering Spain's Brexit contingency measures guarantee that Brits living in Spain before the end of 2020 are treated the same as all other EU/EEA citizens, even if they have their residency appointment after the December 31st 2020 deadline.

So that is probably what the article meant ....for those who did not chose for residence already in time  or Spanish citizenship ....those who took the best of two worlds ....untill brexit came to disturb it...

The Devill is alway's in the tail whit such story's....

Yes it was important to start the residency process before 31st December 2020, as for Spanish citizenship  requires the person concerned to have been a legal resident of Spain for an uninterrupted period of ten years immediately prior to the application.

that is a lot harder same as a number of other countries

What Brits can no longer do from January 1st 2021

Yes that is alway's the confusian about "residence" , many feel resident when living full of part time in a country ..., but are confusing with the legall residence status .....same as in Thailand the residence status is a limited number granted by year ...

Example for my country i am officially EMMigrated to Thailand ...but for Thailand i am not IMMigrated , just a temporary allowed tourist extended on conditions up to 1 year each time...

So i am not surprised that in the official explaining from the both brexit country's spokespersons , confusion for the simple nationals is big misunderstood in the  name "residents "

There are strict limits on the amount of certain foods, meat for instance, you can take from the EU to Switzerland.

Customs can (and do)  search your car and confiscate the excess.

I Remember as a 13 year old travelling by car with parents on a holliday when entering Switzerland by example must pay a amount Suise Francs for dog  ....money back when leaving Switzerland with dog .....borders .... ! that is why E.U. borderless system made Brits so easy feeling by travelling ... no more unless citizens ...

Lost advantages ....

So if many think  only E.U.  do so ....remember Govy / Boris  just postponed 6 months the U.K. aplicating new border restrictions because brexit ... not in "kindness ", but only because not ready for it ..

Same things shall be reprocal after for E.U. nationals entering  ...so can take our ham & cheese sandwiches ????

Makes Thailand's visa extension requirements look extremely generous................................ and also the UK's Settlement requirements at less than half that figure.

That is only one way. The EU have instigated border controls from day one.

Picking me up on a minor point. You must be ever so proud of yourself!

So much easier than countering the fact based arguments I've produced and answering the awkward questions I have asked!

Well it is your daily duty it seems to trash anything your country voted for, so it would be nice to hear something from you in a positive light, for the simple reason, you or I cannot change anything, so can you give me your opinion on this below, just for a change...????

It could have a big impact on the housing market in Spain, at the moment the British are the biggest buyers of property in Spain. With the new ruling it may deter a lot of new retirees moving to Spain and it could cause Spanish property to stagnate or even collapse.

The Brits with property already living there may struggle to find buyers in the future, but only time will tell.

Spanish property bubble popped 12 years ago, Vogie.
