Insomuch as VE Day was followed twenty years or more of financial ruin, the loss of UK privileged access to its primary markets and the diminishing of British power in the world, yes I suppose it is a bit like VE Day.

Oh ! yes you were, the EU does not want the UK to succeed outside

of the EU , as it might give others the idea to leave, with the monies

that the UK paid into it,the EU will have to tighten their belts now.

The EU morphed into something that we did not originally sign up for,

as a common market, free to trade with each other ,great idea, then it

changed were the unelected took over, and wanted to control everything.

In another few years there will be another referendum and the UK will be back in the EU. Ten years from now UK people will look back at this whole sh!t show much the same way Americans will look back on the trump "presidency"

Wise.

It is sure Covid will be the ideal excuse/justification for many things, everywhere.

PARIS (Reuters) - The father of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Thursday he was in the process of applying for a French passport to maintain his ties with the European Union after Brexit.????

That is up to him and has nothing to do with his son. It is his fathers choice.

I'd put the odds of that happening as about the same as the EU expelling the leaching states & ending up as a coalition of Germany, Austria, France & Italy with the other Net contributors (Holland & the Nordic countries) joining a coalition with the UK.

You're more than welcome to keep Greece if you want ????

I think the E. U. somehow succeeded,

which country wants to take the risk its people will be that divided ( 52 /48 )

which country wants to go threw 4+ years of negotiations, with a rather unclear/shady outcome.

They guy is right. The rest of the world has been listening to the whining of the pro Brexit supporters for years complaining about how mean the EU was being to them when the onus was on the the UK whose decision it was to leave. You've left now with what looks like a good deal so no more whining please.

It isn't the Brexiteers who are whining.

Try the Remainers who have been whining for over 4 years and are still at it, even though the UK is no longer a part of the EU.

Taking the good with the bad is part of what is called "Democracy". Not accepting it and perpetually whining about it is called bitterness and spitefulness, it is time to move on to different pastures.

It's human to have difficulties to accept the winning of a group, one consider will be the cause of a disaster for one's country.

That this believe is right or wrong is irrelevant , as at the moment it is in either way provable.

However facing a fait accompli it, is indeed time to carry on.

You must remember, your Trump was voted in, was he not....?......:whistling:

Correct. He was voted in and then voted out and that will probably be what happens to Brexit as well.

Get a  life France and look to your own problems, you have plenty of them. The UK will do fine without the anvil of the EU around its neck. Oh, and good luck when Turkey joins your little club.  You think that you have problems now, just wait until that happens.

To be fair it was more a case of half of those who voted punishing the rest of the UK population.

Do you not understand what democracy is all about?

In an election or a referendum every eligible person has the right to vote and those who get the most votes are called the winners and get to choose which way they want to go.

The Leavers won the referendum with about 52 to 48% of the votes cast.  The fact that many people couldn't be bothered to vote means for the purpose of a referendum or an election that they don't count.

This is something that the Remainers keep banging on about. If you want YOUR vote to influence the outcome, then YOU have to cast it. If you don't, then it is your problem if you don't  like the result.

Does your crystal ball also give the Thai lottery tickets winning numbers?

NOBODY can see 10 years ahead with any accuracy, not even you.

May I speak for the great unwashed who are fed up to the back teeth with hearing about Brexit.

After years of bitching, moaning, wailing and gnashing of teeth....it's done!  Can both sides please just shut up and let the dust settle, for better or worse, richer or poorer, sicker or healthier. Nothing any of you have to say makes any difference!

And please don't say, "Well you don't have to read it!"............

Frankly, I couldn't give two hoots what a French junior minister says in an attempt to polish his credentials for eventual admittance to the circles of Brussels political elite. Looks to be quite a young fellow, so by the time he has amassed enough brownie points to be admitted, the whole outfit may well have crashed and burned!

Anyway, I am not furious - we have left, which rather cheers me up!

Tell that to the French and the EU.  I think we are all reasonable content on the other side of the channel, apart from those who will never stop moaning about it all. Voices in the wilderness now. .

The Brexiteers have heralded the imminent collapse of the EU since before the referendum. Seems to me you guys need to get another crystal ball.

Nice rant. Doesn't alter the reality of what I posted one iota.

And you continue to be very selective in your use of the word 'democracy', you steadfastly refuse to condemn the very anti-democratic electoral fraud that took place.
