I just got married to my Indonesian wife and in order for her to get a spouse/dependency visa, I understand she needs to get a non-o visa first. Normally that is done at an embassy abroad but seeing as it would take her to travel back to Indonesia, quarantine, apply for the non-o, fly back here and quarantine again - is it possible to do this within Thailand during the pandemic? I kind of expect the answer to be no, but perhaps there are some ways around it I don't know?

most agents can handle it for ya.

will cost ya around 18,000 for a single non o 90 day

than another 14,000++ for the one year

What type of extension of stay are you on?

Immigration does not do non-o visa for family members unless a person is working or teaching here.

Some agent may be able to arrange one for substantial fee.

There should be some sort of compassionate exemption for those of us with family who are all already here. I've yet to see any evidence of it.

I'm in the same boat - my Elite visa with a 1 year extension expires in Feb. So far I've been told by every local visa agent I've visited that I'm SOL, gonna have to leave and apply in my home country for a non-o, then come back to get my retirement extension. I'm willing to literally bribe someone to avoid this prospect. I'm old, I have pre-existing lung issues, and I'm sure as hell not heading back to my home country which is overrun with COVID, as it would likely be a death sentence for me. This coming week I'll be hitting up every visa agent in the country until someone can sort this out, brown envelope or otherwise.

I think are quoting fees for a non-o visa and extension based upon retirement not for being a family member of a person on certain extensions of stay.

I know it’s expensive but could  you not renew your Elite Visa?

You would not have to travel to your home country to get a non-o if you qualify for a visa exempt entry and then you could apply for a non-o visa at immigration. Perhaps pick a country that is easy to travel to with low infection rates and apply for a certificate of entry there.

All well and good, but COVID is everywhere. I'd also have to deal with any quarantine in that country, and quarantine again once I'm back in Thailand. Plus arranging visa + COVID tests + air tickets is a logistical nightmare. Honestly, it's worth up to 200k baht to me, maybe more, if I could find an official who can "get it done" for me. Frankly, Thai Immigration should be offering this service legitimately, and could get away with charging a ridiculous amount for it, as it will still be cheaper and safer for people rather than make them leave and come back.

I just checked the Maldives and there is at the most a 14 day home quarantine and a covid 19 test within 96 hours before entry.

You would only need to apply for a certificate of entry online before returning.

There of course would be the 14 day quarantine here though.

Your issue is the elite visa. When the agents obtain a non O they do so on the basis of person entered Thailand last on a visa exempt or tourist visa. Many obtained the non o and obtained 12 month extension based on for example volunteering. Especially if under 50 and not able to obtain non O followed by extension based on retirement.

The PE (elite) visa is a different critter. I don't know how an agent could assist. It's not just down to money. For example an agent could not obtain an extension for someone based on marriage unless they were in fact married.

I suggest you discuss options with a well know agency. However I would be surprised if they would have an option that does not involve existing and re-enter Thailand.

Keep in mind that the situation both overseas and within Thailand has even become worse.

Can't imagine that the 60 day 'covid' extensions will not continue for quite some time.
