UK's test, track and trace system doesn't seem to work. In Germany and South Korea they had succesful models prior to the UK starting theirs. They could have followed their lead.

and how would you change it

mass testing gives you an accurate picture of virus spread enabling targeted measures

what doesn't work in the UK is compliance simply because the UK is not a police state - they don't weld buildings shut with people in them, the public can only be advised to do certain things and compliance is generally up to them, yes the UK police will issue fines etc for certain things to certain people if caught but the general population can do what they want

"There have been about 20-30 percent of normal tourist numbers in Pattaya during the New Year holiday"    I don't believe that number, as a guess it's 5% max

  • I guess that they do not need to study a lot to become governor, right ? is it something that you get from your ancestors ?

  • I agree with your 5% estimate. On New Year's Eve and New Year's Day the beach road and beach were deserted. All bars and most restaurants were closed. Total darkness on some, usually busy, sois and st

and how is it working in Germany now ?

How is it working in France

I seem to remember large protests against lockdowns in recent days

I don't agree with the approach - my approach would be to protect the vulnerable 5% - give them clear instructions on what they need to do and leave it up to them and the people around them to follow those instructions, but then as the hospitals get overrun and the death toll increases mainstream western media and opposition parties will not blame them - they will politicise the whole thing and blame the sitting government, it is a no win situation, all that matters are numbers - the huge detection rate in the UK is because of the massive testing going on - don't test (like in Thailand) and there is nothing to report - how many people in Thailand right now have had the Chinese Virus or have it ?, unless you do mass random sample testing of the population there is no way of knowing, some experts say that for every infection there are up to 10 others that have been infected unless you introduce measures to stop it -so how many in Thailand are infected ?, it is called the "R" rate - you don't know the "R" rate unless you test

But 4 years later, he's outa there...  That's the diff.

We hope....but the wrecking ball to democracy will take years to mend

PH

Imposing a lockdown is far easier in authoritarian states than it is in real democracies,

hence why lockdown don't really work for most democracies

instead they should warn the public of the danger and just let them run free,

it doesn't, we though tests would the answer, it wasn't

all those ideas are great when you track a village with a few thousands people, but that doesn't work when you reach millions of people
