This is one of the issues that gave us Trump in the first place.

Mainstream media is touting a Dem controlled senate, with Kamala Harris being the deciding vote.  As if the elected officials owe their allegiance to the party, and not to the citizens who elected them.

Trump wasn't the problem.  He's a symptom.

Trump has controlled the Republican Party since his election by making it clear that elected officials owe their allegiance to him, and if they didn't provide complete unquestioning loyalty he would support their opponents in the primary elections.  It worked, Republicans in Congress have supported every BS crazy thing he's said and done.

The Democrats have never been as loyal to party as the Trump Republicans, and won't start now.  Biden will have to be very careful with the legislation he proposes, since a single defection from the left wing or the moderates in the Senate will prevent passage unless he can get some Republicans on board.

He'll be able to get Republicans on board. He is a bridge builder, has always been, and with Trump's influence slowly waning more Republicans will get back to the Republican points of view in stead of Trump's. And with Biden being a centrist his ideas are similar to many of the Republicans.
