Bayer AG was founded as a dyestuffs factory in 1863 in Barmen (later part of Wuppertal), Germany,

Barmen is a former industrial metropolis of the region of Bergisches Land, Germany, which merged with four other towns in 1929 to form the city of Wuppertal.

Are you sure you live in the same Wuppertal?

Oh yeah, well not anymore only 4 years ago I went to Cologne to visit Bayer, so I am not just talking

I was wondering the same. As far as I know the EU don't have control over who AZ take orders from.

Perhaps AZ thought the future of the eu looked suspect and didn,t want to get knocked.

So Thailand Intensives its talks now...

Why did they wait so long before securing orders for this vaccine, did the powers that be think that this virus would just disappear on its own, and the Thai population wouldn't need to be vaccinated.... This virus has been about for over a year now, but looks like Thailand has missed the boat.

when there is EU ban on export and shortage, not much can be done. They had chance to act earlier.

no, agreement is not valid anymore, due to unfolding circumstance.

hungary are importing already chinese and russian vax.

germany also considering chinese sinovac, at the same time limiting use of astrazeneca to those below 65.

also Switzerland don't want astrazeneca.

minister is also incorrect - in june thailand is not going to import more AZ, because they suppose to have their own made in thailand. That, unless AZ will decide to move their production to somewhere else, because of the very difficult situation involving lese majeste 112 article

They acted early but got refused later

They're nuts.

My mother who's in her mid 70's was vaccinated a week ago with the AZ vaccine, she's been having an immune response as you would expect with any working vaccine while it does its job which is to trigger the immune system.

She's been feeling extra tired and even had some mild chills, similar to what happened after the flu shot she received before the winter.

If it didn't work then this wouldn't happen, that's why they use real vaccines for some other condition as placebos during trials, because if it doesn't work it might as well be saline.

AZ  vaccine manufacture is not exclusive to UK or EU.  South Korea has contract to manufacture. Canada which contributed $400 million to Covax will obtain 2 million AZ doses from South Korea  plant  to make up for its shortfall in  Pfizer/Moderna vaccines through its COVAX  agreement. This was on Asia news roundup yesterday.

Thailand can do the same thing.................. oh wait................... How much did Thailand contribute to COVAX program again? Some countries have different priorities.

Whatever EU country you live in is deliberately putting their old people in danger to save face (regarding the AZ vaccine). Are you OK with this?

Members of the EU would rather cut off their own manhoods than admit they got it wrong, and come begging to the UK.

Just commented on another thread with Anutin boasting about the possibility of an 'early purchase' of vaccines.  Now we have this boob talking about the possibility of a 'quick purchase'.  What we have, ministers, is neither 'early' or 'quick'.   And, as always, another day, another minister just jabbering uselessly.

exactly at the same time, when permanent secretary to ministry of health was talking about intensifying talks with EU, the minister of health said, that thailand will import AZ from asia, but not naming the country

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-thailand/thailand-to-get-vaccine-from-asia-after-eu-export-control-minister-says-idUKKBN2A4177

Well, if they're importing it from somewhere in Asia, chances are good it'll be from India which IIRC, had announced plans to produce up to 2 billion doses of the O-AZ vaccine in 2021.
