Dr Kitti Losuwannarak, director of the Medical Cannabis Institute, said Mr Anutin would ceremonially hand cannabis seedlings to people of Ban Non Malai village in Khu Muang district of Buri Ram province on Feb 11. According to him, Non Malai Thai Herbal Community Enterprise and the public clinic of Ban Non Malai village received cannabis seedlings of the “Thai Stick” strain from Chaopraya Abhaiphubejhr Hospital in Prachin Buri province. This is a different program from the Hemp initiative. Other Thai articles say the buds/flowers will be processed and used for palliative care. So the farmers/families make some money. Unless I hear otherwise, I'm going to assume it's a small subset of "special" villagers who have connections to "special" officials. "Each household will receive six seedlings to grow for medical and health purposes." Really? When I see an in-depth article detailing how the scheme actually works, then I'll change my mind. In spite of the farcical appearance of the unfolding decriminalization and limited legalization process, real steps forward have been taken in the past few years. Exceptionally good post. It sums up the present situation very well. While the legal status of home growing is still in contention the chao ban around our small fruit farm in Saraphi are starting to grow it as though it were already legal. Things will be sorted out sooner or later.
