Cornstarch Baby Powder?

Featured Replies

Has anyone seen cornstarch baby powder (preferably Johnson's... but any brand would be helpful) for sale anywhere? All I've seen so far at Watson's at MBK, Tesco Lotus Sukapibal 3 BKK, and Big C Pattaya is regular old school talcum powder.

Most doctors I talked to said that no powder of any kind was really necessary. Just keep your kid clean, ventilated and dry.

Also I wonder when using corn starch if ants/termites would take an interest? Some of it will inevitably spill in/under bedding, etc.

From what I have read you can use simple corn starch. Mixed you come up with the same problem of it being too light and easy to inhale.

I also don't use anything as I found it blocked the pores on my baby's body. Just keep your bubba dry and ventilated as suggested by chanchao.

Thanks guys. We do climate control at home. But on the road and outside we need some help with moisture control.

Looks like I'll have to have a crate shipped over.

heng,

regular corn starch works fine......... put some on a powder puff and brush lightly on baby... its hypoallergenic, doesnt cause problems like talc, non scented, etc etc...my three were allergic to everything, and climate control in israel in summer, well, no ac so sweaty babes....

try some mixed with baking sode inside shoes also for clean dry feel and no odour

and under arm pits for same

and just corn starch under other areas for us men and women. much healthier than baby powders.

Sounds like Phuket is not your stomping grounds Heng, but I know a shop down here that has All natural baby powder made with corn starch.

It's a a little shop on Surin beach road called Lemongrass House. The shop is known for it's oils and body products (this guy makes the oils that are burned in spas at 5 star hotels, which they of course relabel and sell for absorbent fees) He couldn't find a non-talc baby powder for his own kids so he started his own line.

There will soon be another lemongrass house shop opening in the Cheung Talay area of Phuket.

I'll look and see if he's got a web site and post it. I'm sure he could ship you a box in Thailand.

One more note:

I didn't see mention of the baby products on the web site but they do have them. I've got some for my little bambina at home. Just write to them and check it out.
