Hi there!

As we are now, there isn't a ferry that transports cars Samui - Phangnan.

How about motorbikes (not scooters)?

Sometimes, depending on the type of passenger ferry, they also allow bikes for an extra charge.

Anyone heard of this before?

I am riding a motorbike from Phuket, taking a ferry from Don Sak to Samui, and would like to take the same bike to Phangnan.

Possible? :o

Thanks.

Songserm will take motorbikes for a fee. There is also a slow boat that leaves from Mae Nam (?) and stops at Koh Phangan before going to Koh Tao. That seems to be the most common boat for bike transportation. Leaves Koh Samui about 9 is. Sorry, I dont' know the name or schedule of this boat, just call it the slow boat :o

Any Samuiites know this one?

Hi SBK,

Thanks for the info.

It will be my first itme on the islands, so any help is much appreciated.

Just want to clarify it....

Songserm (which is the ferry operator?) will take motorbikes (a 400cc) from Samui - Phangnan.

There is also another "slow boat", leaving from Mae Nam to Koh Tao, doing a quick stop at Phangnan. They also take motorbikes.

The "slow boat" departs at 9am.... do you how much time it takes for transport?

Thanks,

D. :D

done it a ew times, i think it was 500 baht last time i did it.

Really hairy watching them wrestle it onboard. We took the haadrin queen from big buddah. I think they are all willing for a price, though seatran and lomprayah obviously wont.

they also take no responsibility for putting your bike in the bay.

Thanks everybody!

I will try the Haad Rin Queen from Big Buddha.

Here is a link I found, with the schedule for all ferries.

I am not sure how recent it is.

You guys will have a better idea about its accuracy.

The slow boat from Maenam leaves at 12 midday everyday unless weather is bad and seas rough. Stops at Had Rin and then on to Tong Nai Pan takes about 2-3 hours. Goes from the old Maenam pier (turn right at 7-11 if coming from Bophut)

Not that boat. The boat I am talking about goes to Thong Sala and on to Koh Tao.

Songserm (the name of the boat company) leaves from Nathon and goes to Thong Sala. Every day around 11am (usually about noon but get there early). Its probably a better bet than the Hadrin Queen as it is a larger boat.

having said that, i have taken the haadrin queen on a couple of occasions with 2 motorcycles each time. (vfr 400r, NSR 250r). We know they have done it.

I didn't say they didn't, just that the Songserm boat is a better bet. As well, if the OP doesn't plan on staying in Hadrin he then has to drive over the hill after just arriving off the boat.

sorry just found this thread.

sbk told me in another thread that the seatran carferry is running again.

the slowboat might be the cargoboat mentioned in this link.

http://www.samui.org/kohtao/kohtao_transfer.html

is the socalled "speedferry" backpacker-thing from songserm really taking big bikes ? maybe only small scooters, never seen that...

any info about prices?

Seatran car ferry is running again since Feb. I took my car over last week. Its a little more expensive than the Donsak/Nathon leg. I paid around 400bht for car & driver, around 150bht for additional passengers. Leaves Nathon at 5.30pm & returns from Thong Sala at 7am. Check these details on 077251150
