No way cheaper than the death penalty.

Technically, in the US, it actually is ... but only due to the amount of appeals they are allowed that cost big bucks.

It is interesting that many opponents to the death penalty claim life in prison is a much greater deterrent, and a much harsher punishment, yet virtually every one on death-row exhausts every available option to get the sentence reduced to life...

I think of victims.

4 murdered,   3 by bombs - 29 year old Krystle Campbell, 8 year old Martin Richard and 23 year old Lu Lingzi . Sean Collier, 26 year old  MIT campus police officer was fatally shot in his patrol car by the Boston bombers.

All young and life stolen.

264 people injured some critically, and many missing legs, eyes and arms.

All good people robbed of human rights.

Again articles like this along with comments show up how screwed up and backward America is. Here in NZ Tarrant an Aussie murdered 51 of our fellow Kiwi citizens and our modern western system put him in prison for the rest of his life. While a few Kiwi Neanderthals bemoaned the lack of the death penalty here the biggest debate has been over why should we Kiwis be picking up the cost of his life imprisonment and why isn’t he deported back to Aussie.  Thankfully the reality of that is the cost for having a modern civilized society won over.
What I find interesting with the two examples is the 51 Kiwi victims massacred by a non Kiwi whitey were Muslim and that Muslim section of our community mostly agree with imprisonment for life whereas in the US case the killer a US Islamic (?) citizen is to be killed by his own whitey system and fellow whitey citizens. Hell why not even have a public mass lynching and then for good measure a good ole boy burning like those blackies just a few years back. It seems that Salem was only yesterday in the US.

Perhaps we could prosecute the good people of Boston who paid into IRA funds to bomb hundreds of people in the UK and Northern ireland.
