webfact
BANGKOK, March 31 (TNA) - Thailand was taking care of Myanmar refugees temporarily and would not set up a refugee camp, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said. He was responding to the reports that Thailand was forcing the repatriation of Myanmar refugees who fled violence from their border areas. The refugees were receiving humanitarian aid and would return to their country when situations improve. Thailand was taking care of them on a temporary basis but would not set up a center for the people, Mr Don said. Tropicalevo
16 minutes ago, webfact said: but would not set up a center for the people, Mr Don said. From the previous article "According to the information from the Thai Defense Ministry, as of March 30, 2,897 people have taken refuge in Mae Hong Son province. Out of all, 2,352 returned to their homeland and 545 others remain at the fringes of the border on the Thai side." and from an article earlier on the same page "However, on Tuesday, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said that Thailand will not deny entry to people fleeing the violence in Myanmar. According to Mr Robertson, the Thai authorities have set up around “5 or 6 centres” along the border in preparation for a possible influx of refugees." So they will not set up a centre but they have set up 5 or 6 centres. I am confused.

sherwood
I can not see it being Thailand's problem apart from border control which is in a poor state as it is. Myanmar people seem to be on their own as opposed to the Military Junta. Bring on the UN clap trappers to sort it out. Thailand, apart from the cheap labour market could care less. Just more spikes in the Covid conflict for this blessed kingdom.

"Too hot", you say. Well, get back in boat and row home. No camp. No shelter. No resources. Make it as uncomfortable as possible and maybe they'll leave quick, quick. Yep. Compassionate Thai humanitarianism. Buddha will have a very special place for you all in your next life.

Perhaps the "centres" are tents full of soldiers waiting to "encourage" refugees fleeing genocide to return and bravely face death.
Cake Monster
I think it is obvious to the whole World why Thailand refuses to allow NGO Etc into the Border Areas to give aid and assistance. Give a Bandaid, and a bowl of Rice to some poor soul with Shrapnel Wounds and then send them back to face more atrocities.
