Buying Rubles At The Airport, For Russia

Featured Replies

I want to have rubles in my wallet when I arrive in Moscow at 6 pm, and stay for 22 hours. I'll be spending much more money on my return trip, but I can wait till June for that.

So, does the new airport have rubles?

depends on the convertability of the baht to roubles there PB. You may get a crap rate, if they exchange them at all.

When I go to countries which don't have a good exchange rate with Thailand at the exchange booth, or have limited convertability (eg Phil Peso and Indian Rupees are changeable in LOS, but you'll get a crap rate well below market rates), I'll change my baht into dollars and then my dollars into the local currency upon arrival. You'll get the best rate that way. Everyone accepts dollars!

Same thing as what Samran said. I've never seen anyplace that will exchange Rubles, but if by chance you did find a place you'd likely get a horrible rate. Bring US Dollars or whatever is easily changed in Moscow for Rubles and do your exchange there.

Thanks; I won't even try to buy rubles in Thailand. Since I have to spend one night at Heathrow-London (twice, in fact) I could purchase extra pounds in Thailand. Or, since I'm going to be spending lots of euros in Ireland, I could buy euros in Thailand. About the same, I suppose.
