Banking hours back home are 10 am to 3 pm.

Who actually needs to go inside a bank anyway?

Expats,, etc. should be able to do all your business at the ATM or online, except once a year for the extension.

My US Social Security is deposited into an account that was mandated to not have ATM/electronic banking. I must go in person to the bank and show my passport to get my monthly social security deposit.

That's logical but this could well be a cover excuse for the real reason that I suggested in my earlier post and that they are expecting massive withdrawals when the baht bombs so hence need to limit times available. Now let's see  what , or any restrictions are placed on ATM's if they really are concerned about covid spread given all that finger contact.

There are only a couple of banks still open on Koh Chang, but the ATMs remain topped up with cash.

Yes, if they really wanted to prevent a bank run then its not logical to do keep topping them up. I guess the guy who talked about a bank run is a bit out of touch with reality. I think he can stand in line with the rest of those who constantly keep saying the baht is going to crash.

I think it might go down, but have no clue when or how long. It certainly is not imminent and will not be huge like before. Just my two cents id be suprised if the baht comes to 35 to a dollar or 40 to a euro. I would be really happy but i think its not realistic.

Has anyone heard anything about banks sanitising atm screens and keypads, door handles, banknotes, on an ongoing continuous basis? Or is that being left to individual customers to do? Gives a whole new meaning to Money-Laundering...

Another brainless unjustified decision.

Only good to create more panic/fear.

Nothing worse than rumors of "bank closing" which could be misunderstood.

This is why you withdraw money on a regular basis when you don't need it and then stash it at home "just in case".

" if the baht comes to 35 to a dollar or 40 to a euro".....

If it happens OH what a great time to transfer money there.

Strange that the event of a bank run did not happen like one poster said would happen so adamantly. I guess that is why he did not want to make any hard predictions.  Week later bank opening hours change.. no dropping currency no problems.

As usual just an foreigner who thinks he could stir up trouble. I bet he will never acknowledge he was wrong.
