Detained – Deputy Chief of Staff of the National Police for violating lockdown procedures in Phnom Penh

The Meanchey District Police Force under the command of Khuong Sreng, Chairman of the Phnom Penh Municipal Unity Command, detained and handcuffed Major General Ong Chanthuok, Deputy Chief of Staff of the National Police General Commission and two other factions for daring to organise a drinking party.

 

The incident took place at a time when Cambodia, especially Phnom Penh is suffering from a high number of COVD-19 cases and occurred on the night of April 16, 2021 in Damnak Thom II Village, Stung Meanchey Sangkat, Khan Meanchey.

 

Fresh News Agency reported that after receiving information from residents and even posting on Facebook, Sreng ordered the police and authorities to immediately go down to stop the gathering and handcuff the three men, who had reportedly organised the dance and singing party, which included the throwing of facial powder at each other and others.
