The Construction Worker Gold Snatcher

At 3.30 pm on 16th May the Pattaya Police were informed of a snatching on Thepprasit Road where the thief fled on a Yamaha Mio with no license plate. Witnesses stated that it looked like he headed for Sukhumvit Road.

The police were not able to catch up with the thief so radioed out to volunteers to set a checkpoint at the entrance to Central Pattaya Road. When the thief saw the officers; he left the bike and ran across to the other side of Sukhumvit Road – into Soi 55.

Weerayut Khiandee, aged 21, was captured together with the evidence of a half-broken gold necklace, which he confessed to snatching earlier since he did not earn enough money from being a construction worker so decided to do this as a side-job to buy milk and food for his newborn baby, which his ex-girlfriend left behind.

The victim was then called to collect her necklace and Weerayut was taken to the station and charged with theft.
