PM declares vaccination national agenda as he urges all Thais to be vaccinated

He might as well urge Thais to ride unicorns while he's at it, since at the moment the unicorn supply is roughly equal to the vaccine supply.

Signs so far are not good. A complicated registration system with an initially poor reponse.  Lack of infrastructure to deliver the planned 300,000 shots a day. Possible shortage of AZ, if SB has similar problems to other licenses in ramping out production.  They will be glad with a poor response, if they can't fix the other two potential issues.  Hoping for a failure of demand is not going to be a good place to be.

And no way are SB providing 60 mill doses this year. You cannot go from never producing a vaccine to producing 6 million in June ans then 10 million in July.

Siam Bioscience is an established pharmaceutical company with expertise in manufacturing vaccines...and the A-Z is not one of the new mRNA vaccines, which only a few companies have the know-how to make. It is based on tried and true vaccine technology and manufacturing techniques. I see no reason why the production doses of this vaccine can't be met.

AstraZeneca is shifting production of its COVID-19 vaccine away from a plant in Baltimore after human error resulted in the contamination of 15 million doses...........oh dear!

People should be allowed to choose which vaccine that they want vaccinated instead of saying 'beggars can't be choosers'.

Then more people would want to be vaccinated. Different people have different opinions on which vaccine has less side effects.

Actually it was J&J.

Not sure if I should start a new thread but I will mention it now.

My wife has just successfully, by phone, registered me for the vaccine at a local hospital, using only my passport, (that they haven't even seen)

Well, are he also willing, together with the health authorities, to take criminal responsibility and pay damages for a vaccination requirement?

It's too easy to play with a pack of cards that's rigged.

And no, these "vaccines" are NOT the key element which will usher Thailand through the crisis.

Stop listen Yong Poonvorawan and bipolar W.H.O.

Can anyone explain why so many Asian countries are being so badly hit by resurgence of covid?

New, more transmissible variant(s) I would guess is the main cause........dodged a bullet first time around......but not his time......in Thailand the lockdowns have become piecemeal and poorly enforced.

Was walking past open bars last night in Khlong Toei of all places.......police swept in on 5 motorcycles.........trouble? Nope......told the owners to drop the front covers down so they they were not visible from the street.

Does this have anything to do with production of theA-Z vaccine in Thailand?

Haha pay people? ridiculous.

Just make it mandatory for travel (flying domestic and international) and when entering islands in Thailand. Also make it mandatory for visa extensions and upon entry to the country. People will be vaccinated in no time.

I meant pay Thais. Yes I think that would be cost effective.

If the vaccination is free for everyone people will come rushing in . Problem nearly solved.

Tourists with the intention of coming to Thailand will be assured thing are ok..

Thais are not rushing in.

That's a big problem they must solve.

Not should.

Must

As far as expats are concerned clearly the vast majority of us will be happy to pay for vaccines. Just allow us access without discrimination.

Just my opinon but who says any of the figures worldwide regarding Covid 19 infections or Covid 19 deaths ever were or are currently accurate.  Does anyone really believe that China with huge congested cities has a low Covid infection rate. In the USA you could get hit by a bus, be hospitalized, die and if your blood tested positive for Covid it is entirely possible you would be listed as a Covid 19 death.  There is no consistency in how various countries track, or report Covid 19 infections and death.  Was Thailand's rate really ever that low?  Who knows.  It is possible that more Thai's are now being tested therefore more cases discovered.  Its "possible" that the early variants of the Covid 19 were easily killed by tropical temperatures but new variants are not.

All the local Phuketians I ask in shops and restos say they have been vaccinated...most twice already. You really shouldn't post false or misleading information. It's against Forum rules.

All I know is I have called several hospitals.  They say they have no vaccine and do not know when it will be available and to watch their websites or Facebook.  Perhaps some regions of the country such as Phuket received because of their push for tourism a large supply.  Don't know.  I see many posts where the government has ordered the procurement of vaccines but precious few on exactly how many doses have actually made it to Thailand.

Thailand has a lot more than "several" hospitals;  and it doesn't change the fact your post is false.

Not my fight, but no way did he imply Thailand only has 'several' hospitals.........take your medicine before you log on.

Well then prove it.  Show me YOUR FACTS as to how many million doses have actually arrived in Thailand are are readily available.  Seems that even the Thai's are having to sign up on Mor Prom to let them know if and when they can get the vaccine.

Whenever I have any vaccinations I always go alone. Indeed I doubt the nurse would let a crowd gather round while she does it. It's just a jab in the arm.

This one has a doctor, a nurse, a government minister and two others for support. Shouldn't they all be at work somewhere? Talk about overkill.

There are so many selfies of people getting the shot on social media. Maybe that's why the vaccine roll out is so slow.

What's all the fuss about?

Like you I always go alone and get it over and done with.

If I get the chance for a Covid vaccination (let's hope I do), I will go alone and I certainly won't take a photo.

A number of younger, fitter UK Tory MP's stripped to the waist for their jabs........how toe curling is that?......they were ripped to pieces on social media.

It wasn't an AZ production facility. It was making J&J vaccine.

The plant was making both vaccines..............but one of the components destined for the AZ vaccine was fed into the J&J vaccine by mistake.

I did not start it.  The man said it was false but of course he has no facts to back it up.  If I am wrong fine, I will apologize.  I did a google search for the amount of vaccine Thailand has received.  I can find so far only one post where Thailand got 200,000 doses of Sinovac in February.  I see many many posts about Thailand ordering, to procure, to receive but no figures on how much Thailand actually has available.  The very fact that Thai's have to sign up on Mor Prom to get a date to get the vaccine is "an indication" that they will be notified if and when the vaccine is available.  Yes they can take only so many each day, but I sure don't see any posts showing lines of people at the hospitals getting their vaccine jabs which makes me believe it is not happening.
This was 4 days ago.

The latest drive comes amid growing public criticism of the slow rollout of free vaccinations offered by the government, which stands at 1.73 million shots so far - less than 1% of its population.

Now is that because the Thai's are not going, or because there is no vaccine to give them.

Thanks for the correction. I can't find out whether or not the error actually delayed production of the AZ vaccine.

Almost inevitable I guess.......they withdrew all future production of AZ from that plant.
