The Thai Wedding Ceremony

Featured Replies

I know this has been asked before, but I cannot find the post.. so here it goes again.

It is my understanding that the Thai wedding ceremony consist of two parts.. the AM.. the families get together and formally presenting themselves...this is the intention... Next the party in the afternoon.. the social acknowledgment of the couple as man and wife.. and that is it.

Legally.. there is no paper work.. A social blessing and an agreement in front of parents and friends..

A short version.. but that is basically it.. yes of course, the dowry, and gift..are expected..

ANY THING ELSE?

Thank you... The thread confirms a few important points.. I was more concerned with the schedule of event. I have been to a few Thai Marriages.. yet, the procedures seem to change a bit according to the families.

Generally, then it is your premise that most Thais.. have the ceremony and do not register or is this an up-country practice... Would the "Thai Middle Class" prefer the ceremony?

Cheers.
