At this point in time, there is more liberty in China than in Thailand. I can't imagine the Chinese would be interested in coming to a country where there are no casinos, where the fun police nitpick every thing you do and can potentially deport you for not wearing a face mask. It's happening in Cambodia (Chinese nationals have been deported for not wearing masks or breaking lockdown orders), Bali is doing it and Thailand isn't far behind. 

 

China has tropical beaches too (in Hainan). Aside from Phuket being warm all year-round (whereas Sanya is a little cool between December and February), there is no reason for Chinese to want to come to Thailand. 

Fiji not 'low risk' unfortunately..they have a quite substantial outbreak there with lockdown in place and Singapore has another cluster..this isn't going away anytime soon .UK and North America are gearing up to get their economies and population up and running by vaccinating themselves out of this and Brits heading to Portugal by the thousands when Boris gives the thumbs up..The Portugese won't know what's hit them when that happens!

Individual cares are hardly irrelevant.  Put together, they make up the big picture.  And of course, if it's you, a relative or close friend, it really hits home.

 Let me tell you what's breaking. The new variants of the virus are breaking through the borders, infecting inoculated personnel and into the community. We are not even close to understanding the virus enough to be able to see three months down the road, let alone the "big picture". When things goes further south, you will be irrelevant.

There is no "Zero COVID Strategy" in Thailand. Just a policy of containment to prevent the sort of scenario now unfolding in India and Brazil and previously seen in Europe and US.

No it's NOT simple. I have to return to the UK every 9 months for personal reasons and quarantining both here in the UK and then Thailand for a month is mad. I also get some medication from UK that I cannot get in Thailand easily - getting stuck in Thailand could potentially kill me. So, not as simple as you make it out

I do 7 months in the UK and 5 in Thailand. I also need medication for my heart condition. Before this year I simply asked a friend to pick up my medication from the pharmacy whilst I was away and rhen brought it to Thailand with me. Now I order it on the Healthera app and it gets delivered to my next door neighbour. When I go home in July I will have 6 or 7 months medication which I will bring back with me in October. I have been doing this every year since 2013 with no issues.

I am confused by this announcement. Are they talking about a full schedule? As you can see from the link above, plenty of International flights arrive and depart daily.

 

My guess is that they are arriving and leaving way below capacity and to keep the slots. Mrs Chelseafan flew back on Qatar last week and she was one of 30 or so people on board. I suspect they also keep the planes running to support cargo operations. If you count the flights between 6am and 3.40pm , there are only 25 flights, way way below the airports normal operating schedule.

Many expats are getting their AZ jabs starting the beginning of June.  No need to wait until October unless you specifically want Moderna.  Which I do!! LOL

I think it will be easier starting in June.  Who knows, but that's what's being said.  Be patient for a few more weeks.

 

I have heard of a few who were able to register via the app, many who weren't, and some who registered via their hospital or doctor.  Crazy times....

Yes sadly I know already of many people who have had covid with the latest outbreak.  We had it 12 months ago and are certainly keen to avoid getting it twice.  Lots of mixed messages coming from the govt as they scramble to play catch up on the vaccines with the gradual realization that the new variants arnt as easy to control.  Best of luck to you also.  

If they don't shape up fast, it will be welcome to the land of businesses shuttered forever, people dying outside hospitals wating for a bed and crematoriums working 24 hours.

This is news to people who have already been flying out of Thailand.  Maybe they were beamed to countries by Scotty and sworn to secrecy?

Some miserable old people on this forum. I thought people were exaggerating but you spend your time bashing Thailand for whatever strange reason. Anyway - Thailand has to open eventually, yes they are currently slow with the vaccine progress but this will pick up and things will get better when it does. I am booking to come in November and if I can't come I'll rearrange my flights but I believe the tourist areas will be open at least

Hey listen old fella, it's one thing having an educated guess at to whether or not you think Thailand will open but if it doesn't then it isn't the end of the world. I don't see what bashing a country will do but then again I actually enjoy my life at home and Thailand is just a luxury for me. I suggest you find something to make life enjoyable again my friend that doesn't involve going away old padawan

My life is more than enjoyable, i am on permanent holiday life style here in Pattaya

where i live since years, what you see on this forum isn't ''bashing a country'', it's just

writing the reality as it is, not as the junta or some dreamers would see it
