If they stopped it before it arrived in Australia then Thais involved could be prosecuted and not run for office.  Ask a certain agricultural minister who trafficked drugs to Australia and spent time in an Aussie prison.  The Thai courts found him squeaky clean as he drug trafficking was abroad.
