The worlds lust for luxury goods has never been stronger. When watching nations like India and China (The Thirsty Dragon) and their delectable palate for the finest wines, it is apparent the same is happening with Whisky. China has had a particular fondness for Wine from the Bordeaux region, and likewise, these newly rich nations have developed a taste for Scotch Whisky.

 

Production of Whisky must increase to keep up with global demand. Unlike Wine, Whisky does not change in the bottle, so to become a fine Single Malt, the Whisky is left eight years and more before becoming available to the consumer. The longer it develops in the oak cask, the more valuable the Whisky will become. However, Blender companies also buy barrels of different age to blend their Whisky. Currently, Blended Whisky is the most exported out of the UK, but Single Malt is stepping up to the challenge.
