Jealousy the motive as man shoots girlfriend in Bangkok taxi

Deputy met commander and RTP spokesman Maj-Gen Piya Tawichai told Sanook that the Tha Kham police had arrested a 53 year old man after a shooting in a taxi outside Big C, Rama 2, west of the Thai capital Bangkok at 7.50 am yesterday.

The victim was a 19 year old woman who was romantically involved with the assailant.

A citizens' arrest was made before the police were called.

A 9 mm gun, ammunition and 10 spent cases were found.

The media reported that the assailant had followed his girlfriend onto a bus where an argument ensued.

She got off outside Big C and he followed. She tried to get away from him and got into a taxi but he caught up and shot at her multiple times.

She died from her injuries. He has been charged with premeditated murder and weapons offences.

Sanook surmised that jealousy was at the root of the case.

Just another case of the frail Thai Male ego getting the way of rationalised and normal thinking process.    RIP the Young Lady; of course she shouldn't have ever got involved with him but doesn't mea

He was 53 and she was 19....not likely his girlfriend...but he likely thought she was.

The Thai judicial system, the Thai news media, and many TV members seem to be locked into a 'kangaroo court' style of justice.

Whether jealousy was or was not involved, whatever happened to fair balanced proper judicial process for all.

I'm guessing that if you were subjected to justice by assumptions you would be very angry, and you should be.

Wow.

And the gun came from?

The taxi drivers hearing should be returning next week.

Always interesting when no name is given for the assaillant. Usually means he's someone entitled to protection.

Will look forward to the pointing and re-enactment.

From the dawn of time jealous men could not contain their emotions when it comes to act on their jealous rage, it was abhorrent than and it still is...

19 year old woman

didn't even BEGIN to live ...    kids are soo dependent on their parents.   It's right about 18+ where you START to make the separation, but it's really in your mid 20's where you get it...

one of the worst ages to lose your life......

Thai TV last night reported that the girl's mother had been shocked to learn that her 19 year old daughter had been involved with the 53 year old man for 7 years. Do the math.

Our local shop, last year very similar shooting at a 7/11 nearby, another jealous bf gunning down a girl. Well done those who apprehended the <deleted>. Only hope connections don't get him off with a laughable punishment, nothing would be too harsh.

Don't hold your breath.  Some years ago, in my wife's village a  young man abducted raped and killed a 10 year old girl.  He served JUST 7 years of a life sentence and then his family paid out 5 million Baht and he walked free.  There is no real 'justice' for victims here.

The frail male ego is a worldwide phenomenon.

Can you name a single country where it isn't?

No excuse but why did he do it?

A real man, without self esteem issues, is able to simply walk away. It is not working. She does not want me. OK. There are others. Life goes on.

Why can't people just let go... plenty more fish in the ocean.

Was it because he lost her, or he didn't want anyone else to have her?

Very sorry for the poor girl. Such a short life cruelly ended. I fear the perpetrator of this crime will quietly walk free after a short time in detention.

He will be out of jail in 4 years.for him,it will be worth it.If I can't have you nobody else will(perve)

OMG if that's true, she has just grown up and going to grass him up! No name for a protected guy.

Mental age of 10yrs old.

Just another piece of dog <deleted> with a fragile ego who deserves the death penalty, but sadly will get life and be back on the street to kill again in 7 years. I just don’t understand why there’s hesitancy to put murderers to death.  Can anyone honestly tell me this poor excuse of a human being deserves to continue living?

Let's not forget the Asian loss of face, it's very powerful and is painful to those who have lost face. But of course is never a valid excuse for any form of violence.

Quite obviously premeditated as he was carrying his gun 'on a mission'.

The penalty will be a slap on the wrist and just a speed bump (in life) for this loser.

Tragedies happen like this oh so often as (if and when caught) the penalties aren't a deterrent.
