Popular Post webfact
File photo Kratom has been removed from Thailand's narcotics list following publication in the Government Gazette. The plant has long been used in Thailand as traditional medicine. However, it can also be mixed with cough medicine and used as a recreational drug, which is why it had previously been classed as a narcotic. The removal of kratom as a narcotic will enable police to focus on more serious crime, lawmakers were told in a review of the narcotics bill earlier this year. Legalising kratom also opens up the possibility for farmers to earn an income by growing the crop, as well as private companies to sell products in Thailand and for exports. The legalisation of kratom will become law in 90 days, PPTV reported. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-05-27 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 7

Popular Post aussienam
This is great news for those who suffer from Restless Legs/Limbs Syndrome (Willis-Ekbom disease). Kratom is known as one of few naturally occurring medicines to help alleviate symptoms. Edited May 27, 2021 by aussienam

rasmus5150
So now when they legalize Kratom - will the authorities release all the Kratom smugglers/users? Imagine being caught a couple of months ago, and receive a lengthy prison sentence.....

Imagine being caught a couple of months ago, and receive a lengthy prison sentence..... Guess the inmates will hope for that in vain... These kind of "sudden changes" to the law never have winners only. Take the unfortunate boat and yacht owners in Phuket and neighbouring provinces for example when suddenly the Thai government decided to tax the living hell out of all expat and long time visiting "yachties" back in the year 2000 or so... Several yachts were impounded and sold on auctions (or given to Mia Nois? Who knows...) Then, when all yachties had left for Malaysia in utter panic (where they were very welcome and not taxed), those morons behind their desks realised they had cut Thailand off one of the wealthiest and steadiest money supply streams and pulled the plug on that new law... The yachties who lost their boats were never reimbursed, with some losing their complete livelihood due to that stupid law that suddenly popped up out of nowhere and went down just as quickly only because some "clever" official had a "great idea"... 3

248900_1469958220
Great. I live in an area where this stuff is everywhere. My in laws have it around constantly. Its pretty mild on its own. I have never had the concoction they make with it and various other dodgy things. Its a plant that should be studied more. Its a stimulant in lower doses and a more of an opiate/painkiller in larger doses. I look forward to chewing on one soon legally.....or is it not going to be that simple....

xtrnuno41
The reason why it was illegal was totally different. According to wikipedia : In Thailand, kratom was first scheduled for control in 1943 under the Kratom Act. At the time, the government was levying taxes from users and shops involved in the opium trade. Because of the increasing opium costs, many users were switching to kratom to manage their withdrawal symptoms. However, the launch of the Greater East Asia War in 1942 and declining revenues from the opium trade pushed the Thai government into action to curb and suppress competition in the opium market by making kratom illegal.

simon43
My mad ex and her family used to boil up kratom. To say that the effects are mild surprises me, since they were on another planet after drinking this foul concoction. My Thai hotel manager terrified 2 young Chinese female guests by chasing them (for no reason) through the woods with a loaded gun, - all after boiling up and drinking kratom juice. I have nothing but bad memories about people who use kratom..... Edited May 27, 2021 by simon43

Its Now Legal to Grow Six Pots of Cannabis in Thailand Thailand’s Deputy Premier and Health Minister has announced Thai households can now grow up to six pots of cannabis each to supplement their income, Anutin Charnvirakul said Thailand is the first country in the region to legalize medical marijuana and further eased rules to promote ganja as commercial crop. Families may form communities to grow marijuana and supply the crop to public hospitals and state facilities, or use them to make food and cosmetic products as a fresh revenue source, Thailand’s Deputy Premier and Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said in a statement Friday. Marijuana and hemp are both economic crops and it provides a new option for locals to generate revenue,” Anutin said at a marijuana educational expo at Buriram, 400 kilometers northeast of Bangkok. https://www.chiangraitimes.com/lifestyles/its-now-legal-to-grow-six-pots-of-cannabis-in-thailand/

If it made people run around like chooks with their head cut off it wouldnt be being legalised. 2

This is stale news long ago dismissed as subterfuge on TVF. It's actually easier to get a seat on the upcoming Thai moon mission than obtaining a permit to grow real marijuana, not hemp. 1

thanaka
So wait, is it going to be legal legal? Like, can I do business with Kratom as I would with, for example, chocolate? Or is it still restricted in some ways?
internationalism
does this mean revision of some 200 000 sentences for those poor who did not have some 100k to pay brown envelope? that would leave prisons almost empty, desolated places, where only a handful of the real criminals, mafia and corrupted politicians would roam empty corridors
