Manager reported that 28,000 foreign workers and migrant workers were started to be vaccinated yesterday in Phuket ahead of the province's reopening to foreign tourism.

Migrants and foreigners with work permits received their jabs at a 4,000 seater gym in Saphan Hin, Muang district.

Employers brought their previously registered workers who had their credentials checked.

It all went smoothly. In other locations yesterday 14,000 were set to be vaccinated with the remainder being done today.

Dr Chermpong Sukhanathaphol from Vachira Hospital said that the province had received 200,000 doses of Sinovac and used 177,978 from Mayy 18-31st.

With vaccine left over from April that made 29,690 doses available.

The media reported that the vaccination of foreign workers was seen as vital in the province to help get the so-called Phuket Sandbox scheme off the ground.

Foreign tourists are set to be welcomed in the province without quarantine from the start of July.

Ridiculus.... almost 30.000 doses left over from April in Phuket, the rest of the country has to suffer because an already failed open for tourist island.......

And Hua Hin received 930 doses for 5.800 people... Logistics is not available in THailand I believe

So Farangs are expected to go to a mass vaccination centre and mingle with migrant workers with little or no social distancing to receive the leftover Sinovac jabs? No thanks, I think I'll pass on that one and remain self isolated until I can get vaccinated at my hospital with a better vaccine.

Are they vaccinated migrant workers in Phuket for the sandbox, at last count on the sandbox opening on July 1 they have had 20 international tourist booked

It looks like a scene from Woody Allen's Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex ????

I can't wait to watch this implode. Watching the damage control should be entertaining.

If this is their first jab, they won’t quite sneak in their second by 1st July.

Never mind, let’s count em anyway, eh?

Two days ago I was told by a friendly motorbike taxi driver that farangs were being vaccinated at Jungceylon and when I questioned this he was adamant that everyone from long stayers through to those people from Myanmar were being offered vaccinations, so I went along.

I spoke to the immigration official and asked if that was the case, and he then asked how old I was, so I told him and he said I was too old and would have to wait for another vaccine which would come soon; so I asked how soon, and he didn't know!

He then said that at my age I should be having a Viagra injection and he and his cohorts had a good giggle, and I didn't mind the good humour, because it's quite unusual from these guys.

So the next day I decided to go to Bangkok Phuket hospital and see where they were going, because about two months ago they were collecting signatures and telephone numbers fom people who wanted to be vaccinated, and I put my name on the list, along with my telephone number, and hospital number.

Imagine my surprise when I got there and nobody at the reception/registration counter knew anything about vaccinations!! When I explained that there was a book asking for names and telephone numbers for those wishing to be vaccinated, she said it was just a survey and knew nothing about any vaccines whatsoever.

One lady who did speak a little English said that the hospital was doing nothing about vaccinations, and the government was in charge, and that's all the sense I could get out of her.

A sentence containing the words brewery, organise, p1ss up and couldn't, came to mind and I had to remind myself that it was Thailand after all.

This was not the case. The junceylon operation was slick, organised and efficient and never once left a feeling of being ill at ease or cared for.
