As Anutin so blithely noted - there are contracts!

Astrazeneca signed contracts to supply vaccines that its brand-spanking new Asian-hub manufacturing facility was incapably of producing.  And my guess is that their other plants are over-burdened and can not meet demand.  In the short term they will suffer financially.  In the long term their upper crust executives will probably become billionaires.

Those who can't grasp that this is about money are blind to how the ugly world actually works for real.

Not to mention he who must not be named who owns Siam bioscience.

Like the EU, AZ is going to be settling breach of contract lawsuits with numerous Asia countries for awhile.

I haven't been following every twist and turn of the AZ saga in Europe, but there does rather seem, as an outside observer, to be some doubt as to the contractual specifics of AZ,s position; are they being threatened/facing lawsuits for breaking contracts or for not doing what the EU wanted and favouring them? This is coupled with the bizarre situation whereby big players within the EU were on the one hand claiming that the AZ vaccine is not up to their standards, and not what they want, and then threatening legal action because they couldn't supply them with the stuff when they demanded it! Funny old business politics.

As far as sueing AZ in its Thai incarnation, good luck with that! The plaintiffs may care to ask Hopewell, Akara Resources, and a few other companies for tips on what to do! I suspect the only long or short term result of such processes will be Astra Zeneca"s deep regret at having ever allowed themselves to get involved in the first place, plus another gurt big nail in the coffin of foreign investment in Thailand. I'll bet any future investment in pharmaceutical production for South East Asia goes to Malaysia or Vietnam!

Almost impossible to sort the wheat from the chaff.......too much politicking to really grasp what is happening.

Cool.

But would prefer they have enough supplies to finish.

I agree!

How can you follow up with a second dose if you cannot provide a first dose?

By acquiring more doses later on. Not having the desired numbers of doses right now, does not preclude the possibility of getting more in future.

Leap of faith.

Faith in the current regime based on past performance? Zero.

I'll let you jump out of the plane first.

I'm not talking about faith and in not making any predictions, I'm talking purely about logic. Not having something now, doesn't mean you can't get it in future.
