New “Indian” COVID-19 mutation found on migrant workers returning from Thailand

The Ministry of Health of Cambodia has announced that it has found the mutated B1.617 COVID-19 virus – also known as the “Indian variant” – in three workers returning from Thailand. According to a statement from the Ministry of Health dated June 4, 2021, the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge has detected the presence of B1.617 COVID-19 in three patients – all of whom are Cambodian workers returning from Thailand.

 

The affected individuals are:

 

A 27-year-old female who is being treated at Oddar Meanchey Provincial Hospital
A 46-year-old male who is being treated at Ek Phnom Hospital, Battambang Province
A 43-year-old woman who is being treated at Maung Russey Hospital in Battambang Province.

That suggests that despite the governments best efforts to suppress the true figures, deliberately minimising testing, then this Indian variant is rife in Thailand. 

That will be the Delta variant that under discussion here, won't it!

It certainly would appear to be gaining more ground .

In the UK, they have a real problem with this Variant ( Delta, Indian whatever ), and its threatening to put the Country into another lockdown.

But here in Thailand, just be careful when you Shopping

Yes people, this is the real deal, at least 50% more virulent than the original, some experts believe it's 100% more virulent

If you aren't yet vaccinated then play it very safe, especially if you're mixing with strangers indoors and get yourself an N90 mask for those occasions.
