I don’t think many people are going to go to Thailand as world stats show it is getting worse there not better????????????

Thailand, which was largely successful in containing Covid last year, plummets 14 spots as cases surge with outbreaks in prisons, construction camps and densely populated parts of the capital, Bangkok.

Latest is in addition to the phone tracking app, you must also wear a GPS wristband and there are now facial recognition cameras installed all over

Welcome to 21st century Alcatraz

(Not allowed to quote source)

where i work, we have to wear a tracking watch for 1st 5 days, and stay in a locked hotel room for 10 dasys, we are tested arrival at airport and then day 4.& 10

we are also tested every 7 days no matter how long you are in the country, so last year I was tested 26 times.

So Thailand Sandbox is waaaaaay better, why don't people understand this has to START somewhere/somehow,

I've booked a SHA+ hotel for 6,644 for 14 nights,

How can you compare what you are willing to do for work to what Thailand expects us to do for a holiday?

I’m comparing Thailand’s current entry regulations to other countries

What’s wrong with that, its real world and its happening NOW.

For example, what are the current rules and regulations for Australia, are they BETTER than Thailand, go on tell us, explain why Thailand is waaaaaay behind Australia with attracting tourists and visitors.

Putting aside the fact that transmission is greatly lowered among the vaccinated which all the data supports, are you suggesting that no-one travels anywhere until 100% are vaccinated?

No country in the world is suggesting this.

Or should we just follow the general consensus of allowing travel when herd immunity is reached, around 70% are vaccinated, and all vulnerable groups are vaccinated?

Much like the Sandbox model no...?

At some point we've got to start living again ..

You stay in your room in you want .

Hearing these great news

- delay by 1 month

- 14 days confined on the island

- 3 tests

- up to 20,000 baht fines

I have to apologize, I understand now:

Phuket is definitely THE No.1 tourist destination in the world !

... and I will have to rush to join the queue, otherwise all direct flights and hotel rooms will be booked already !

????????

... guys, back to the drawing board again !

The summer school holidays in Europe you missed already,

if you proceed like this, you will miss out on the winter season also ...

I have to buy some milk, therefore not having too much time to book a flight+hotel.

Would you please be kind and hold a place in the queue for me?

Much appreciated.

Several countries also require a covid test within 72 hours of returning home.

If the Thai government do not supply documentation with each test then there is a possibility that the tourist would also need another test to return home.

In this case the tests would be: Pre-departure (to arrive), Day 1, Day 7, Day 14, pre-departure (to depart). For a small family the cost of testing would be substantial, even if the cost of the Day 1, 7 and 14 tests are included in the hotel price.

If anyone was declared positive it would ruin the complete holiday for everyone.

And you also have to take into account the possibility of a false positive

Had similar experiences, when travelling pre-Covid through Europe with my girlfriend. Astonishingly, the husbands were worse than their wifes- pure hate ???? Even some remarks like child-f..ker (- she was 27 then and mother of kid).

I assume, the increase of those coming with ball and chain has to do with the restrictions and reduction of constitutional rights due to Covid in certain European countries.

Quite a lot have suddenly the idea to emigrate ... without a lot of preparation. Or at least do a test run for several months, how emigration might feel.

Seems, those guys made a short cut in their decision process.

Leaving out one alternative scenario:

I you make such a drastic change in your life, you could also consider to cut off the ball and chain ...

However, those just making a test run, might come to the conclusion, the alternative scenario has it’s benefits ... ????

Only real hassle I thought I was going to get was in Paris.

Two women were looking at us, went to the bar, bought two pints, but then walked straight towards me and the wife.

I thought....... they are going to throw these beers at us.

They put the beers down and one said....... that is for you....the prettiest girl in world......and that is for you....the luckiest <deleted> in the world.......555

I keep pointing out one huge hole no one can answer..

When a Thai national tries to leave the sandbox, via road or sea, how can anyone determine if he is a local Thai national or a Sandbox arrival ?? A local Thai national need not carry any passport (hence immigration stamps) or must have any tracking apps. There is no way to determine this !! The same to a lesser extent for local expats and domestic non Thais, of course they can be demanded to have the passport but many travel without one. But telling a sandbox arrival from a domestic traveler, especially later on when this involves 10s of 1000s of arrivals has not been addressed in any way.

I mean they are not building a system based 100% on trusting Thai word are they ??

Every time I raise this in the various sandbox groups which are talking and planning with local government all I get is an 'err yeah.. good point'..

And now they are talking about only allowing in foreigners due to exactly this problem..

"We understand the government is worried about containing the virus, which is still a challenge, and the fact that local people can escape the island before 14 days much more easily"

can we link BP here ??

What's the point of getting vaccinated if you still have to have 4 covid tests ?

Because even when you are vaccinated you can still catch and transmit covid. It just leesens the symptomns and effects. This has been said many times and is general common knowledge.

You forgot too the Valid Visa you will need to get from the Embassy as well. At this time is there tourist visa being issued? Surely this will take some time if your not in a city with a Thai Embassy.

VOA is still a valid option as long as you fit the other criteria. VOA valid for 45 days changed from 30 to allow the extra 14 days Quarantine,

I am pfizer vaccinated  and fully insured I wont accept tests to any holiday destination

Guess you defiently not going to Thailand then, thats your choice. Many other people are in the same boat with Double vaccinations but they will still take the tests as there is no guarantee even with your Pfizer vaccination that you cant catch covid. I know a few people who have been double vaccinated and due to work needed to take a test to discover they were positive with no symptoms.

No idea, as am neither a Scientist, Virologist or and epidemiologist. It also appears that those specialist traits are missing from the Thai governments panel of experts. My opinion as a layman and living here for decades is that this particular administration never had any intention of vaccinating the majority of the populace and foreigners living here.  As fateful as it may seem the elitist sections of the Thai community could not careless if the the normal folk lived or died, just so long as their corrupt and depraved lifestyles could continue unabated.

@Excel i was being sarcastic actually, cuz people like you seem to say that even the vaccine isnt 100% risk free.  well news alert.... there is absolutely nothing in this life 100% risk free.  so we must move on with our lives and live with the virus, like we do with hundreds of others.    otherwise we will be stuck in a vicious circle of new variants that the vaccine doesnt protect you against forever and ever.
