BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's government has prepared about 7.5 billion baht ($235 million) to help ease the impact of restrictions imposed to curb a recent spike in infections, its prime minister said on Monday.

 

The tighter restrictions announced on Sunday include a ban on restaurant dine-ins and closures of construction sites in the capital Bangkok and five surrounding provinces.

 

The assistance will be offered to affected employers and workers, Prayuth Chan-ocha told a briefing.

 

More than 690,000 workers in the six provinces have been affected, Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin said.

 

Prayuth said a planned reopening of the resort island of Phuket to vaccinated foreign tourists would go ahead on Thursday while other economic measures including a co-payment scheme are still on track, Prayuth said.

Another load of borrowing sending the Country further into debt,  but will the money ever reach the people or Business that it is intended for,......... I doubt it very much....

I'm sure that Thailand's 67,000,000 population will appreciate the $3.50 each, and it will go some way to ending their financial woes.

 

Not like the average Joe will get it though

฿7.5bn allotted to help Thai workers and businesses hit by partial lockdown

 

 

Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has set aside 7.5 billion baht, from the Social Security Fund and government borrowing, to compensate individuals and businesses affected by the month-long partial lockdown in Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani provinces.

 

According to the CCSA’s announcement, issued on Sunday, all construction worker dormitories in the six provinces must be sealed for a month and all construction work are halted from today (Monday). Eateries inside shopping malls, department stores, bus and train stations and airports are prohibited from offering dine-in services.

 

It is estimated by the CCSA that up to 690,000 people in the six provinces are being adversely affected by the decision.

Borrowing to the hilt to stem the bleeding...

that money combined with all the other share schemes would have been better spent last year on vaccines.

Too little, too late, as usual making a big show about what he is doing, when in fact he has done very little, but help drive the country to ruin.

Should have stopped playing god last year and got vaccines sorted for the people, instead of putting money before peoples health/ well being.

Putting money into the economy  will not help if the economy isnt vaccinated first.  Putting fuel on a fire only makes fire burn brighter and hotter if you dont extinguish the fire first!

all the billions upon billions of approved budgets the last six months 

 

 

where is it ????????

 

they keep approving budgets with nothing to show for it
