webfact
Picture: INN Justice minister and the man responsible for overseeing the Thai "War on Drugs", Somsak Thepsuthin told INN that he was well on track to hit 6 billion baht in assets seizures of drugs gangs. So far since October 1st theThai authorities have seized 5.6 billion baht in assets and there are still three months to go to hit the 6 billion baht target. Adding to the total was just over one billion baht in assets seized from a heroin operation run by a man called "Long" in the Golden Triangle. Long has a factory there and supplies heroin to Malaysia. With Thai associates he launders money through a foreign exchange business and eight companies acting as fronts. The latest seizures came after the arrest of a key player in the movement of drug money called Khemmika Jaipinta also known by the moniker of "Jay Moei". Seventeen raids in Bangkok, Chonburi, Naratiwas and Samut Prakan netted 1,060 million baht and resulted in the arrest of five individuals after ten warrants were issued by courts. Somsak said that investigations continue to try and uncover those behind the gang who are in Malaysia with the hope that this will lead to the kingpin "Nai Long" and his factory in the Golden Triangle, an area that encompasses Laos, Myanmar and Thailand in the north of Thailand. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-07-06 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Popular Post darksidedog
How about spreading some of that 6 Billion to those made destitute by the Covid forced business closures, rather than watching it line coppers and politicians pockets? 6
Emdog
They've already had smashing victories stamping out proliferation of the good drugs (vaccines), so time to go back to the usual war on bad drugs.
Popular Post internationalism
he, justice minister - what happen to those 12 tonnes of ketamine or such in chachongsao warehouse which you personally confiscated the lasy=t autumn on a tip off from a korean drug agency? how those 12 tonnes turned up as 5 grams? those $200mln is just nothing in comparison to some $100bln market originating from the golden triangle and with the majority moved through thailand. Most of money also laundered here. how do you explain, other than drugs, some 1bln baht of declared wealth of the drug minister prompao? Have you done anything on this front, that besides allowing him to continue using this drug money to manipulate thai politics? 4

Fortunately the government has heroin experience in the cabinet.....so they have just the man to keep the business running smoothly and turning a nice profit. This ‘event’ actually sounds more like a hostile corporate takeover than a drugs bust. Edited July 6, 2021 by Hayduke 2

When they big up drugs busts and seizures it should viewed against the back drop of the convicted trafficker who has been recently elevated within the ruling under the wing of watch keeper for the deceased Prawit .. Credibility is a commodity not in huge supply when it comes to issues like this .. 1

Xonax
If only they could show the same enthusiasm seizing Billions from corrupt and unusually wealthy politicians and officials, they wouldn´t have to rely on foreign tourists to save the economy. Procurement in Thailand doesn't mean they have ordered & paid for these vaccine, they have made several dozen procurements over the past 12 months, which should mean over 100 million doses should have arrived...... But have they, simple answer... NO
