Thai PM says tougher COVID-19 measures are necessary

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said today (Thursday) tougher measures are necessary to handle the rising COVID-19 infections and deaths over the past few weeks, as further restrictions proposed today by the Public Health Ministry are to be deliberated by the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) which he chairs tomorrow.

Protest leader Jatuporn Prompan to stay in prison for almost another year

Thailand’s Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the appeal court’s decision requiring Jatuporn Prompan to continue to serve his prison sentence for another 11 months and 16 days, in the defamation lawsuit brought against him by former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva in 2009.

Sandbox bookings strong in Patong

Total COVID-19 Insurance Claims Rise to Bt1.77 Billion in First Half of 2021

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) has reported that total claims on COVID-19 insurance policies ballooned to 1.77 billion baht in the first half of the year.

High infection areas to get Sinopharm jabs as alternative vaccine

BANGKOK (NNT) - People in areas at high risk of COVID-19 transmission will be able to sign up for Sinopharm jabs provided by the Chulabhorn Royal Academy next week in limited quantity, as an alternative to the government-provided jabs, with other organizations signed up for the jabs earlier, now getting their allotment.

DMS clarifies COVID-19 antigen test policy

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Public Health has adjusted its policy to adopt more antigen tests for COVID-19 in hospital settings to ease the load of labs running more complex RT-PCR method. Health officials are also discussing the possibility of providing rapid test kits to the general public for self-tests at home.

Bumrungrad Hospital to start registration for Moderna vaccine today - jabs from November

PHUKET: The Patong branch of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) has announced that the electricity supply will be temporarily shut off in parts of Patong on Tuesday (July 13) as work is carried out on installing new high-voltage cables.

Canadian bank robber jailed by Singapore for 5 years avoids caning
