Huge crowds at Bang Sue vax center: Health minister Anutin says "it can't be helped", sources

This illustrates well the stupidity of the current Covid restrictions. Instead of enforcing social distancing, they ban activities deemed "risky" that are pretty much drawn out of a hat. Hundreds of people in a pile is OK when it's for queuing for vaccinations or fighting for toilet paper in a supermarket, but people sitting 10 meters away from each other at a beach is illegal.

    Totally inexcusable.  You don't do walk-ins at the beginning of vaccinations.  If you do, you end up with exactly the dangerous mess happening at Bang Sue.  Walk-ins are for later--when the majority who wanted a vaccine already got it.  Why in the world are so many being made to go to Bangkok.  Sheer madness.  Open vaccines centers all around the country and do appointments only right now.

This government is designed to operate and collaborate efficiently only when repressing anti-government gatherings, then everything works flawlessly from allocated media presence to police/army cooperation to street clean up. Apparently they know how to plan and implement for that, and also apparently the covid crisis does not rank on the same level as the political threat.

May be real logistical reasons why this is not possible as in their simply arent 70 million vaccines available right now anywhere for immediate shipment.

Whatever the 'reported' order quantity of vaccines there was, that number was never going to be delivered because that would leave no wriggle-room for filling up your already bulging-with-tax-payers-money bank account. I can't believe this still hasn't rid this poor country of this pathetic, childish & corrupt government.

I was out there. Yes, massive crowds but great behaviour by the crowds mostly elderly Thai from out of town.

Staff was great and helpfull. I repeat that:  Staff was was organized and very helpful.  Crowd followed instructions and behaved quietly.

Main problem:  more staff.....more staff......more chairs more chairs. double the number of those giving the jabs. Advertise for more jab givers

But the point is that they were all too close together, rendering the whole event a bit wreckless, as someone else said, they're more likely to catch or spread covid, has the concept of social distancing STILL not sunk in?

Why can we just go to any hospital in the country and just buy the vaccine?  Why do have to wait for these meansy government handouts, long lines and months of waiting and waiting?  You can go to most any qualified hospital in Thailand buy a flu, measles, mumps, hepatitis, tetanus, pneumococcal vaccine without a problem, but a Covid vaccine,... no no no you have to wait and get special permission from the clueless slowly doling it out!

Went to my hospital today for routine blood test and enquired about Vaccine as had e mailed them in May as they instructed. Told that booking for Moderna was full and I had sent email to early!!! They suggested I go to Bang Sue!!!. Not only is Bang Sue now closed for walk ins due to Wuflu risk but appointments are only for Bangkok and immediately surrounding provinces!!! I may have to change hospitals!

Also, like everything else they have done so far has been an unorganized, unprofessional mess. How much education do these top ranking people get to understand that they must plan these things out and look at all options. Just like the government tried to put all their eggs in one basket and then can't figure out why it doesn't work. Juveniles are in a constant state of denial. Of course it could be helped, if you had any interest whatsoever, in doing your job properly. One of your duties, if I may inform you, is to make sure everyone gets vaccinated, with a plentiful supply of vaccines, from all over the world, regardless of cost. And making sure the people have many safe, easy, convenient, quick and comfortable places to get vaccinated. As if setting up multiple locations is rocket science.

 

And speaking of rocket science, you fools are actually contemplating a space program, when you cannot even get it together to set up multiple vaccine center locations, and you cannot even plan sufficiently to have a large enough quantity of vaccines ready for when they are needed? Shame on you. Shame on you for your continued lies, deflections, blame, and labels. You behave like an infant. You are despised to no end. You are hated, disrespected, likely have an approval rating of less than 1%, and have less than zero credibility, just like your creepy boss. 

 

And the real hypocrisy here is that it is totally uncool with you goons to have a handful of foreigners hanging out having a beer together. But, it is ok for have 5,000 people deliberately crammed into one vaccination center, because you are either too cheap, too stupid, or too lazy to set up multiple centers. They used to blame your continued malfeasance on incompetence. That no longer flies. We know now it is deliberate sabotage of some sort. Nobody really knows why, but no other explanation makes sense anymore.

1) That would involve operations beyond Bangkok and it's immediate environs - bit of a non starter.

Also if vaccinations are done in this manner who is keeping records can I ask? 

As I understand it for vaccinations to be the most effective the first and second dose need to be about 8-12 weeks apart.  If no records are kept (which I suspect is what will happen) how will people be called in at the correct time for their second dose?

I feel very sorry for the Thai public having to put up with this chaos.

If you pay for them without looking for personal payback for placing the order . That doesn't happen with a corrupt government. The west knows the real story in Thailand . They are not willing to "donate" good vaccines to a country that simply will not buy them straight up. The government of Thailand were prepared to let their people die in the streets before even ordering proper vaccines, and now doing so for delivery next year.

Surely more vaccination centres are the solution? That way the crowd is split up. It requires more man power and co ordination of vaccine supplies to several sites, but that’s hardly an impossible task.
