Even worse, years ago I worked at an oil refinery at Map Ta Phut, the company was extremely careful about safety and every person (repeat every person, VIPs and all) who had never been on the site before had to sit through a 1 hr video then participate in a 10 minute quiz session. A new maintenance team arrived and went through the safety process. A couple of hours later one of the senior Thai engineers on site found a Thai engineer (part of the new maintenance team) sitting at the bottom of a process vessel which emits large amounts of flammable fumes, signs everywhere Thai and English about the serious danger. The visiting Thai engineer was smoking a cigarette*. The site Thai senior engineer grabbed the cigarette putting the lighted end into the palm of his hand (to ensure sparks or embers didn't float around) and put the cigarette out. He then asked the visiting engineer 'didn't you see the safety video? His answer YES. 'So why are you smoking?' Answer: "I think it's OK because my brother works here." (*The outside security company was also dismissed the same day and an internal team quickly assembled. The outside security company were responsible to seriously ask every visitor to hand over nay cigarettes, matches, cigarette lighters, pagers, mobile phones etc., before visitors allowed to enter the compound. Turns out several of their team were late for their shift so their supervisor let the visitors in without the check. Within a few days a new outside security company got the contract however the CEO created several new company positions, to be occupied by qualified engineers with experience on refinery sites to monitor the staff of the outside security workers 24/7.)

That is their world. Their job. Your world would seem not to have any forward vision. I gave an opinion that vaccine breakthrough will become more common. You disagree that's up to you. Our brains obviously work in different ways. Yes that’s why they are medical experts. Not some random forum poster constantly posting negative outlooks. I think the hierarchy call it scaremongering. My opinion is that this is the kind of negativity highlighted by them that will soon be banned from all social media outlets as it could impact on vaccine uptake. Sooner the better. What’s with all the fuss about breakthrough cases? The vaccine is intended to protect you from severe illness. If it also prevents/reduces contracting and/or transmitting the virus—great, but as long as it provides protection against severe illness I’m happy with that because it will allow us to live with the virus and then take it from there. And based on the data we have, the vaccines provide excellent protection against severe illness, even with Delta. On a side note, the yearly influenza vaccination sees 40-50% breakthrough cases. And I don’t think anyone has ever heard of the term breakthrough case before. On another side note, most other vaccines that are in routine use today do not achieve sterilising immunity either. And still many of those have achieved to eradicate a pathogen completely. Yet suddenly everyone is making a fuss about the fact that the Covid vaccines don’t provide sterilising immunity. So as serious as the current situation is, we should also appreciate the fact that we managed to come up with excellent vaccines in record time and the more and more people get vaccinated the more we will get back to what can be considered “normal”. So while I appreciate the seriousness of the situation, I don’t share the doomsayers thinking. If we keep vaccinating and implementing restrictions, then, ceteris paribus, we will hopefully be able to live a somewhat normal life again next year. I expect they will be along later to try and prove how clever they are. You need correcting.
