People urged not to believe ‘fake news’ about self-medication

The ministry said people isolating at home must strictly follow doctors’ instructions and that self-medication can cause harm.

The DES spokesperson announced on Monday that “reports claiming that paracetamol, ambroxol, dextromethorphan, chlorpheniramine, Vitamin C, and green chiretta [fah talai jone] can cure Covid-19 have been checked by the Anti-Fake News Centre. The Public Health Ministry’s Department of Medical Services has confirmed that this information is fake news.

Thailand’s government has announced that people in 16 provinces affected by the government's partial COVID-19 lockdown will receive the same financial aid as 13 other provinces already being assisted by the Social Security Fund.

Your highlighted in bold is interesting. It may be rare for now but the breakthrough is only recent

The report also states: "The Delta variant is about as contagious as chickenpox, the document noted, and universal masking may become necessary.  Still, breakthrough infections overall are infrequent, according to the (CDC) agency.

The MoPH document says all 7 of the foreigner deaths reported today were people from Myanmar.

Record high number of new cases but a reduction in deaths compared to yesterday.

Surprised only the former was in the headline.

Today wasn't a record high number of cases, but it was a close second behind the 18,912 from July 31.

Ah right so the headlines incorrect and also doesn’t mention the reduction in deaths.

Yes, the headline of the thread today is wrong....

the deaths daily bounce up and down, so day to day changes don't mean much. And there's no indication that today's deaths tally represents any kind of downward trend.

But the broader trends are more instructive:

The past five days death numbers -- 117, 178, 133, 178, 147

Same for the first five days of July -- 57, 61, 41, 44, 50

Double to triple those of a month ago.

7 day running average will put this over 1k deaths a week unfortunately.

No worries everyone...Thailand will be at natural herd immunity within a few months at this rate.

agreed.  it won't be the vaccine that knocks this one down.  i think the natural immunity was a big reason for the drop in cases in the US early this year.  vaccinations had barely started and numbers started to drop, in mid jan the 7 day daily avg for cases was about 250,000 and a month later it was 70,000.  my parents are in their 80's and they signed up for a vax immediately and didn't get an appt until late feb for the first dose.  then they dropped to a low of about 10,000 with the help of the vaccines.  maybe thailand can avoid a another wave in the future if the vaccines can take hold later this year.

Part of Pfizer shipment being sent to Buriram, health official says

A shipment of Pfizer vaccines is being sent to Buriram despite the province not being a hard-hit Covid area, a public health official told Thai Enquirer on Tuesday.

Got to keep that mafia family happy as a reward for stabbing Thaksin in the back and continuing to support the current coalition.

Also, wasn't one of their clan at Krystal Club or some other VIP nightclub in Bangkok, caught COVID and then did a runner back to Buriram to concoct a story about where he had been, in total defiance of any contact tracing and without taking any sort of responsibility for his actions? (Don't answer, it's a rhetorical question).
