Santhana Prayoonrat, a 62 year old former policeman in the special branch, surrendered to the custody of the Thong Lor police after an arrest warrant was issued on Monday.

Santhana is implicated in the case of foreigners and Thais, some of them policemen, who abducted a Taiwanese man from a restaurant in Sukhumvit Soi 36 and took him to a nearby condo.

It was reported at the time that the case involved a disagreement over medical supplies.

Santhana said that the authorities knew he was recovering from Covid-19 and entering into a 14 day quarantine but still issued the arrest warrant.

He was met with people dressed in PPE.

He complained of persecution at the hands of the police. Sanook said that he had tried to defer the issue of the warrant last Thursday to no avail.

He is one of 15 people wanted by police in the case that involved former US marines, among others.

Santhana told the press that he knew the people involved but was not personally involved himself.

He bailed himself using his own surety and said that he reserved his right to countersue his accusers.

Of course not, as innocent as the day he was born.
