The governor of Satun province in the far south of Thailand Ekkarat Leesen has ordered the idyllic island of Koh Lipe to be locked down for the next 28 days, reported Sanook yesterday.

Ekkarat was at the port of Pak Bara yesterday preparing to deliver supplies of food, water, masks and other medical needs to islanders in Community Isolation, Home Isolation and Local Quarantine.

He was there as the final 92 tourists and tourism operators from the island arrived on the mainland on three boats ahead of the island's closure.

The island lies about 81 kms off the coast of Satun and is considered one of the most beautiful in Thailand,

Does the lockdown mean that everyone on the island has to stay home and away from beaches, with restaurants and diving closed? Or does it just mean no one is allowed on or off the island without a very good reason? Because if it's the latter, it sounds nice! But the former sounds horrid.

What's the reason for the lockdown of such an isolated island ? We will never know if the Governor just had bad sex or flatulency when he took this silly descison.

All tourists already left, as hotels had to close down. They are the ones enjoying beach or Dive centers. Hope the cases will go down to 0 soon and the island will reopen but might take weeks or months
