Nor will you see them if you do not get up and go outside at 2am to see whether it is cloudy or not.

It's always cloudy when there's something to see ???? best i saw was in 1980 in the UK

Yes that's my experience too, also if not cloudy then the light pollution puts a dampener on it.

Depending on where you are of course. Where I am, it is as black (dark, lightless..) as..............what can I say these days?....................night!

Been possible to see them for a week or so, and will continue for a few days more. But you are correct that tonight is the night they peak.

 

Sat out a few nights ago to watch and only saw one. A big one. Then realised that I could not see the Perseids from where I was as there is a big hill in the way.. I was looking in a different part of the sky.

 

Might try again tonight if not tired.

The peak has passed, but you should still be able to see them for a few more nights. Look north east low in the sky.
