Hey all! I was just wondering if anyone knows of any Western baking recipe books (recipes like Victoria sponge or cupcakes etc) that have been translated/written in Thai? I’m looking to get one as a gift for a Thai friend who struggles a little with written English but really wants to learn some baking recipes. I thought of translating some online recipes myself (using Google translate or something) and putting together my own book but I’ve been told using online translators can be a bit hit and miss and don’t tend to translate cleanly. Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated, thanks all!

A book?

Does your Thai friend have a gadget to watch youtube videos?

With some effort one can find misc videos that explain western food, like "Victoria sponge".

Looks nice.  G/F number one needs to get off the sofa, put down her phone and start baking.

I looked at Asia Books website. It's hard to search if you can't read Thai (I can't), but this one popped up.

There is also the lack of range of products and ingredients used in good quality baking and when you find some the quality is bad or the products are too old...

Not sure where you are, but we are lucky in Pattaya area of having no issues getting good quality ingredients. The flour can be in a bit of an issue, but TOPS in Central has a good choice.

Yep. I did ask her a while ago why its always me that is sweating gobs in the kitchen producing nice meals, and baking OP,  for us both, and the dogs, then I remembered that she is a sxxt cook.  Still, we are not together because of her cooking, she does have other skills for which I am grateful.

YoK in Chiang Mai sells everything you could possibly want.

Although cakes are just sugar, flour, eggs, fat and baking powder.
