Senator Kamnoon Sitthisamarn, a member of the panel vetting the bill, said the examination process is proceeding at a snail's pace because members have differing views.

There's a law in place that allows police to have access and examine bank accounts purely on suspicion of graft/wrong doing.

 

Several years ago a government minister was subject of such an order as a result he was 'retired'  never to be heard of again.

 

However if this was implemented country wide and perhaps extended to high ranking military personnel, it would come as no surprise that there are quite a few $ millionaires within the ranks, for this reason it will NEVER be implemented.

We know you will do nothing, because that is just who you are. You have a mandate to protect the police, and protect them and their franchises, not reform them. Please. The RTP at it's inception seems to have been created with a status quo from the government. We will NOT pay you a living wage, but you have a franchise, and the limit of your income is based solely on your own creativity and initiative, and you will always be protected. Is that not the case? 
 
So, even if this failed PM was sincere, which of course he is not, where would you begin to change that culture? You know where? You would double all salaries. And invest in modern equipment, forensic labs and an effective highway patrol. Probably a trillion baht to start.
 
Reform the police? How about pulling people over for reckless driving? The police here are not law enforcement. They are franchisees. Despite all the failings, there is still such arrogance, such a lack of remorse, and a lack of admission of the extent of the failings is just not happening.

I remember the Junta's last attempt at reforming the police, as it was considered as being too red. The RTP responded by arresting an army General for human trafficking and publicising the case. Then any idea of reforming the police was quickly forgotten! ????

One wonders what his true objectives are. He has sabotaged the lives of millions. He has destroyed hundreds of thousands of businesses, permanently. He has caused hunger, misery, countless suicides, and alot of misery. 

 

He has wreaked such sabotage on the tourism industry, in my opinion it will never recover. Permanent destruction, of a $110 billion a year industry. Sure, there will be come tourists that will eventually show up. Five years from now, it will likely be a pale shadow of it's former self.
