The Ministry of Public Health today, September 7th, revealed the latest hospital bed availability for Covid-19 patients in that the overall situation is improving as 70-80 percent of current patients are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms.

Dr. Somsak Ankasil, director-general of the Department of Medical Services, told the Associated Press that the overall number of infections has started to decline as most patients have no to few symptoms, 20 percent are “yellow” patients with moderate symptoms, and 3 percent are in critical condition and on a ventilator (red patients).

The Director-General said: “The hospital bed occupancy rate is about 43,000 patients while ventilator use and mortality rates have also decreased. As for Bangkok and its vicinity which have been accounting for more than half of all deaths, they have now declined to one in six of death rates.”

Yes but Thailand excel in the hub of spin and statistics

Hmmm....

I believe the hubs might have originated elsewhere and continue to be to this day.

A hint: the highly deluded and exceptional cultures.

This is a perfect example of why the alleged mortality rates due to COVID are so inaccurate.  so many more people had COVID than are reported, because in general they do not test the entire population so they do not know how many people actually had COVID.   The vast majority of people are asymptomatic so they don't bother getting tested.

It’s a perfect example of how the numbers get blown all out of proportion.

Good to see some perspective. .

No the vast majority are not asymptomatic, just because Thailand claims this to be the case does not make it true. Their classification for green patients also includes those with mild symptoms and those that at first present with no symptoms but then later develop symptoms.

To be clear those who are truly asymptomatic number at most 30-40% by robust international studies. The most recent study places the figure at 30%

Do not confuse asymptomatic with presymptomatic, those who at first present no symptoms but then do develop sickness.

So we don't count green and yellow cases anymore leave the  Rapid tests out of the daily numbers and lower the tests and see.. in a few weeks time Thailand is on paper Covid free and we can reopen the country again.. and if there are more cases it is you in Thailand living people who let your guard and masks down or did not keep enough distances..

Best not to get to excited when the numbers go down

As sods law they will go back  up again

Vaccination of the whole population  is the answer

Then talk about the return of Tourism

Meanwhile Sweden, Denmark, got tired of these shut down games and decided to fully open up.

70-80% have been asymptomatic. The reason they don't tell you that before is because it doesn;t fit their narrative on a stranglehold for power and control especially when they have been totally ill prepared to handle the virus and the Delta wave, The reason field hospitals have been shown to be full is because there simply was no where near enough beds for the small number of those seriously infected. Of those that unfortunately lost their lives i believe many of those could have been prevented with proper abilities to handle the critically ill in the first place

And many multiples more never even come to our attention as they are asymptomatic.

Percentages quoted are only on identified cases at hospitals or through testing.

That's not to say that Covid is not of great concern and I for one am anxious that I can't get vaccinated, but the real rate of actual illness is much lower than is bandied around.

I bet the ministry will assert an "acceptable" level soon as high tourist season approaches.

They are very likely manipulating the figures for this very reason.

It will all miraculously be just in time for high season (which will fail anyway).
