I have not paid anything for the COE, but the COVID Insurance.... that's another matter!

Nor have I  3 times already but insurance (40 day stay 5100b) , quarantine hotel and airline tickets add up. Sadly  COE requires confirmed return airline ticket. $$$.  I work for airline and my sorta free staff tix wont do ????.

Your right its like everywhere.

I guess hanging out in front of the donkey show in Tijuana isn't a great way to grade an entire country.

I never went to Tijuana.... hanging out where all the American kids were is unlikely to be the best location. I must say I saw some good strip clubs there, maybe to rival Thailand.

Some posts using a foreign language have been removed.  English is the only acceptable language anywhere on ASEAN NOW, except within the Thai language forum, where of course using Thai is allowed. Short Thai translation of technical terms is permitted in specialty forums.

Thailand is headed for a dead high season, with only

tourists who are desperate, or people who own some sort of property coming to escape the cold Winter

AS I am moving to the seaside, this is only good news as many are selling their properties.

Also, good news for many Thais/Expats who like a quiet beach with cheap hotels.

Thailand is better without the masses of tourists, IMHO.

And the post covid syndrome will last for many years.

No it won't, that's unnecessarily pessimistic, although probably an understandable statement given how everyone is feeling right now. But, we can learn from history. And history from after the 1918-20 Spanish flu epidemic shows that everything rebounded quickly and came back stronger than before.

Well.....the more I think about this proposed Nov. 1 lifting of the quarantine requirements leads me to believe that the COE and the said COVID insurance attachment will be nil and void as well......?????

Kinda makes sense, doesn't it? ????

But then we're dealing with wishy-washy Thai officialdom, aren't we?

BTW - I also gone through these procedures a couple of times already.

Even before the pandemic.

You've got a country being held hostage by this oppressive regime.

Wages are the same they were 10 years ago give or take a few baht.

  But prices have tripled.

Tourists came but never returned because duel pricing, high prices, and being ripped off.

There lucky to have us expats around picking up the slack.

And that´s the main reason for the bath staying high

Sadly this is the future we are already living.

"Fragile economy

“The baht’s slide reflects the dichotomy of the Thai economic recovery and the US economic recovery. The outbreak of the delta variant without sufficient vaccination equates to lockdowns which make economic activity very difficult,"
