Just another scam. Nothing more here to see.

It's actually a very convenient way to stay for 9 months in the current environment. Not sure where the scam is. If you've spent time and have any friends in Thailand it's incredibly easy to sort out a very reasonably priced rental.

I have my own apartment in Thailand, why would I have to show any proof of hotel when/ if I arrive on longstay ?

Perhaps the STV is not aimed at you and an alternative one could work better.

You don't, STV asks for one of: hotel booking, lease ogreememt or condo title deed.

It's run by big business. The government is letting big business dictate TAT rules. Just another nail in the tourism coffin.  Just so much media blitz and living on the past can do. Sinking ship comes to mind.

'Thaitanic' !
