Disaster prevention official in Phuket requests Govt. to set up disaster monitoring center for Andaman coast

An official of the Office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Phuket Province, Arun Kerdsom (อรุณ เกิดสม), revealed that the province have proposed the establishment of a disaster monitoring center to connect disaster warning systems in the six Andaman coastal provinces.

Mr Arun attended a meeting yesterday (May, 31th) on disaster warning and management of telecommunication systems in the six Andaman coastal provinces. The meeting was presided over by Minister of Information and Communication Technology Sitthichai Pokai-udom (สิทธิชัย โภไคยอุดม) at Krabi Province.

The total 99 disaster warning systems have already been installed in the six provinces. 18 of which are in Phang-nga, 19 in Phuket, 32 in Krabi, 11 in Trang, 14 in Satun, and 5 in Ranong.
