Pravda Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Come on aseannow news team! It's gonna be another winning thread!
Popular Post Will B Good Posted October 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 4, 2021 I imagine 99.9% of tourists won't even know about this until presented with a demand for payment. So first time around TAT will get away with it, second time around people might just be put off. Family of five.....suddenly an extra 2,500 taken out of their spending money.....might make them look elsewhere the following year. 3
Popular Post userabcd Posted October 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted October 4, 2021 It used to be a 500 baht payment departure tax then increased to 700 baht and then it was allegedly added to a flight ticket price, now several years down the road another 500 baht tax is being charged to make a total of 1300 baht to visit Thailand which will in due course be upped. Multiply that by 30000000 visitors and its a nice money earner. 3

ezzra Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 Meeting at a Thai cabinet, today's agenda: we are broke and we need quick cash, any ideas guys? yes we do, there's that cow we call a cash cow and sometimes we call them tourists, let's see what we can shake out of them, surly they are all rich and wouldn't mind a bit to give us 500 baht right? resolution 100% unanimously passed... 2

If it is, families will not notice or care. 3

ThailandRyan Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 As I posted elswhere: Transforming the bank accounts of those that have dipped downward because of Covid to returning upwards and making them flush again. Covid has a way of creating problems, oops This government has created problems because of Covid for the Tourism community. The problem is that this fee will never see the daylight. Covid issues will still be around for the long-term unless this government makes concrete plans that do not cost the tourists extra money. Maybe the fund will pay for the Covid tests that they are and will be requiring for entry into the country and then to offset a medical scheme that would cover those in the tourism sector who get sick.
mtls2005 Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 The PSC remains 700 baht. There was some talk about raising it to 1,000 baht. Now there is talk of keeping the PSC at 700 baht and collecting an additional 500 baht. Think they're still sorting the mechanism for collection. A self-filling trough. 2
