I met a guy who became very jaded on the Philippines through his experience of yearly updating his work permit.

 

I only went for holidays. You can retire very early there. I think you can go there on a retirement visa from about 50 years old. If you are a digital nomad that could work for you.

This is where catch 22 comes in 

They won't employ you without a working visa but you can't get a working visa unless you have a job or even job offer & willing to pay for the visa 

Plus many companies will purely only employ Filipinos now 

Some people willing to take a lower salary for the lifestyle (unless a 9g visa)  which you would have thought would help the people & the Economy with their experience & knowledge but obviously not

You can retire there from age 35 already.

I think that visa is under review as it was abused by Chinese using it then starting online casinos .
