Disfigurement

Featured Replies

Do you think that statistically a beautiful person would be more hesitent to be disfigured for cash than a not so beautiful person?

Define beautiful. Your definition & mine would probably be different.

I can't imagine anyone, but the very desperate agreeing to be disfigured for money, regardless of how aesthetically pleasing (in anyone's opinion) they were.

Yes. If someone feels that they are ugly, and what the person thinks about themselves more than what others think is what is important here, than what difference does it make if they are made even more ugly but get to buy nice things for themselves to try to fill the hole that is their life.

Actually I never mentioned ugly people at all...I asked about "not so beautiful people"....do you think that if someone is not so beautiful then they are ugly?

Define disfigurement - is a tattoo or piercing a disfigurement? By my definition they are becuase they have been put on a persons body as a permanent alteration. I have tattoos and I am sure that many people, especially in polite society, would regard them as disfigurements. I am also reliable and frequently told I am a "hansum man" so I guess that makes me part of the good looking brigade :o

Count the hairs if you wish Chownah, yet I will say that someone who is ugly will more than likely take money for disfigurment and someone who is "beautiful" would not.

I'd disfigure all of you for cash - ugly or otherwise.

As for myself: Not a tattoo nor a piercing will disfigure this temple.

Obviously it's conceptual & all down to the individual's definitions. I view my tattoos as enhancements, but I know my mum views at least one of them as disfigurement, so I'm sure others do, too. My idea of disfigurement is something (for instance) that would cause extensive scarring
