webfact
File photo: REUTERS Thailand on Wednesday (November 3) reported 7,679 new COVID-19 cases, 8,482 recoveries and 56 additional deaths over the past 24 hours. ▶︎ Total infections since April 1: 1,906,579 ▶︎ Total recoveries since since April 1: 1,791,037 Wednesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,935,442 with 19,394 deaths. The news comes as the Thammasat University field hospital has abandoned its plan to accept a donation of 1.5 million doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine from Poland. The university has failed to obtain an official letter, from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirming its status as the Thai government’s official representative for receipt of the vaccine donation. The field hospital said in its update yesterday (Monday) that it had made all the preparations to facilitate the delivery of the vaccine from Poland, including logistic expenses, such as booking a flight from Poland on October 28th, freight, insurance and storage, as required by the donor, which also requires a formal confirmation from a Thai government agency that Thammasat University is the official representative for the receipt of the vaccine. *Thai PBS contributed to this report Discover Cigna’s range of health insurance solutions created for expats and local nationals living in Thailand - click to view -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-11-03 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates Get your business in front of millions of customers who read ASEAN NOW with an interest in Thailand every month - email [email protected] for more information

Bkk Brian
The covid situation here has failed to impress this think tank. Bangkok fails to make top 50 listing for Covid safety According to the report, 72 cities, including Bangkok, had been analysed in 114 indicators across five categories of pandemic responses: economic resiliency, governance, healthcare, quarantine and vaccinations. The DKA said Bangkok faced its greatest crisis in the second quarter this year due to air travel restrictions and quarantine. The analytical agency also pointed out that the city’s economy was fragile even though the country has been reopened to foreign travellers. https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40008347
