Sorry to say but the picture above is authentic, I have seen that with my own eyes in Hong Kong. These people queueing all can afford to buy authentic Louis Vuiton stuff. This is how rich China has become. This causes a lot of envy on many westerners. Of course, these aren't your typical Chinese tourists in Thailand.

Just returned from a Caribbean cruse and there was not one Chineese crew member where normally there would be many hundreds of them working.  

I really don't want to travel anymore. The hassles and stress coupled with the prior idiotic security leave me dead cold.

 

Need to make two trips to US and one to Europe to satisfy wife's lifelong dream after the previous lifelong dream of visiting US was fulfilled 6x.

 

I won't be spending more on things that the government can suck tax out of me. We'll just enjoy the beaches, NPs what's left of the natural beauty. Rent a house with a pool.

 

No quarantine hotels, PCR tests, b500 airport fees and insurance I don't need. But if government thinks I'm going to plow this into the local economy they'd be wrong. We've both seen plenty of Thailand.

Not entirely sure how Thailand reach the conclusion Chinese are the big spenders unless its based on what real estate they purchase combined with luxury items they cant get at home. Coupled with hotel booking and what they spend on food I suppose based on this formula they are big spenders compared with other nationalities.  Case & point I went to buy a sea facing condo in 2018 at Centric Sea Pattaya only to be told ALL had been sold to Chinese. Don't live there, just bought for the future.. Consensus of opinion then was they were trying to get their money out of China as quickly as possible and property was a good & safe investment, even in Thailand. I believe this was the case all over Pattaya with purchases mainly by Chinese, possibly before Xi Jinping gained too much power to prevent this haemorrhaging of money from China which incidentally, he has now succeeded. Off track slightly but none of this spending helps the common Thai tourism. They rely on all the other nationalities that come to Thailand for a holiday or who already live here or are looking to settle. I cant believe for one moment the amount of money these people spend can be as easily traced as its mainly cash not cards or large purchases. Its these spenders that really help the common Thai people out and not the Chinese no matter how you dress it up and Thailand needs to do more to encourage more of this type of people to come and spend there hard earned cash and forget about the dependency on China which will dwindle as more and more restrictions are bought to bare in China.

Big spending? Ok, there is normally thousands of them but all book into all inclusive hotel packages.. but they spend next to nothing anywhere else except for Big C..  the cheek of these tight @rzez, they used to try coming into our restaurant for a seat while bringing their own food.. Apart from the hotel business, i cant see anyone else profitting from them.. And sometimes we'd get chinese staying in our guest house , and their manners and the state they left the room in was unreal.. ended up having to spend more to clean or fix damage they made. . Rather have polite Thai guests than them any day.

There is no doubt chinese make up a large chunk but it’s like with everything else, do you want your bar with 10 people drinking 10 bottles each or do you want 100 drinking 1 each .

 

10 require less staff, less costs and less mess, 100 looks better but less money in the bank. Something Thai have not been able to figure out, more does not always mean better or more money in the bank 

As they arrive on their budget Chinese owned charter flights, stay in budget accommodation, eat street food and seven 11 takeaways, and so it goes on!!!

Why does the media publish such garbage, since when have 99.5% of Chinese tourists in Thailand spent big! 

Please keep them locked up for the next 2 decades to come. It's a better world without them around everywhere.

And explaining a little further, Hong Kong is an special administrative region of China, so the tax laws are different, so when mainland Chinese people visit Hong Kong, they find the prices much more attractive than back home. That's why they are queueing outside the store! 

The real Tourist 'Big Spenders' from China don't come anywhere near Thailand; you will find them in London, Paris, Auckland, Sydney and anywhere far away from South East Asia.  Of course; at the moment they are not going anywhere until Zizi Top says so !

 Tourism open but nothing else, went for our anniversary meal and the restaurant was furious they cannot sell alcohol. dinner and home. Saved me big time.
