Meanwhile the number of foriegn tourists arriving on the island are likely to increase in December following the resumption of direct flights from Russia. International tourists will be the ones on the Samui Plus flights. Domestic tourists travel on the scheduled flights. Popular Post robertson468
Perhaps if the Tourists could have a glass of wine/beer with their evening meal, things would start looking up. What is with this autocratic attitude of you can't enjoy yourself because I say so. Crazy, crazy!

huberthammer
I am quite astonished how people think that the number of tourists arriving would go from zero back to normal. It will take time and it had to start somewhere. Combined with the domestic tourists roaming the island it had added quite some life back and hopefully is a positive sign for what we will see going forward.
thasoss
the authorities should try the "old normal"..........places would be filling up more quickly. But you know 'thailand pass".......vax certificate, PCR test 72 hours before flight, health insurance including covid,1 NIGHT IN A HOTEL NOT OF YOUR CHOICE,ANOTHER PCR TEST,hardly makes life easy, only desperate people will come back these next 2 months. Having said that I'm sure Samui is just lovely this time of year.

Tropicalevo
I do not profess to be a tourism expert, but I do wonder where they get their numbers from. We operate in the NE of the island. A smallish community. In the last week or two, we have checked in about:- 5 groups of Germans 4 groups of French 4 groups from the USA/Canada 1 group from the Czech republic and a couple from SA. All coming in via the 7 nights or the 1 night programs. Some after they have quarantined and spent a week in Phuket. Most have stayed for a week or more. Not a huge number, but it is a start. These are all tourists, with many going home after their stay here. We still have domestic tourists arriving at weekends. We also have a few 'ex pats' coming to their holiday homes. And it seems to have finally stopped raining all of the time. (Up here anyway.) The bad news? 'Wobbly' scooter riders are back on the island so take care.
