The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is warning that the high tides today (Tuesday) will reach peaks at 11.26am, at 1.31 meters above mean sea level, and 1.20 meters at 7.32pm.

People in Bangkok, Samut Prakan and Nonthaburi are already suffering from flash floods after the Chao Phraya River overflowed yesterday during the high tide. The BMA warned of another high tide today, which could potentially impact those communities without levees or embankments.

As of 7am, the eastern embankments in Sai Mai (Khlong Song Floodgate), Min Buri (Saen Saeb Floodgate) and Lat Krabang (Lat Krabang Floodgate) have held over the past 24 hours.

Reading between the lines it appears High Tide was a surprise.

Nah, just the sand-bags provided at low spots were not high enough.

Thailands flooding solution needs rethinking.
