Pattaya: Foreign man and Thai wife appeal to media after their luxury house suffers damage

Pattaya Online News reported on the case of a foreign man and his Thai wife who have allegedly suffered damage to their luxury property from a Suphalai development next door.

They turned to the media for help in resolving their plight after complaints to their housing estate and the local authority throughout 2021 fell on deaf ears.

The next door development overlooks theirs and runoff from higher ground is flooding their property and garden and causing other damage.

Punyawee Wilcox spoke to the media from their home in Soi Farm Jorakhee (Crocodile Farm Soi) off Chaiyaporn Witheee Road in Moo 1, Nong Prue, Pattaya.

The nationality of the foreign husband was not reported.

Quick look at this, the issue is the water captures between the walls, and goes to the side that has less depth, i'd simply add a channel or underground bilge system and pump the water away, i'd also extend the wall, as its hideous looking at the other side.

Good luck to them, i have bought a  high floor "Luxury" apartment in one of Sukhumvit good area with magnificent view of the surrounding and the Chao Phraya river only for a condo to be built in front of my condo blocking all the views which in turn has caused a considerate drop in value of my apartment and there is nothing i or anyone else who was affected can do about it...

That is very unfortunate and I feel for you, happens all the time in Bangkok.. That's why I always chose condo units where the views were already partially spoiled by other buildings. At least, I knew what I was dealing with and would not get unpleasantly surprised later on. I almost bought a unit in a building next to an abandoned plaza complex. The owner was adamant they would only build another plaza or restaurant. Unsurprisingly, a 30 floors building came up a few years later.

I hope the market will pick up in the future and that you'll get your investment back + benefits in the long run.

There's a big difference between a neighbouring property causing damage and just having your view blocked which is something you don't have a right to!

One very good reason never to buy property in Thailand !!!

Rent is far better. If anything happens, you can leave on the moment and leave nothing behind !

Yes I doubt they will ever seek your acceptance before giving planning permission here.

Something I am always conscious of......what could be built next to you?

Daughter was thrilled to buy an apartment in London over looking a small park......I didn't say anything at the time, no point.

Two years later her view is of the balconies of a seven story condo.

Because it is irrelevant.......

Did anyone die?

So many other pressing issues in Thailand and the world seems so petty could careless about any of it.

Looks like a great swamp for breeding mosquitos. This might be a legal angle to follow.

If these people have enough money to buy a big house, they should be able to afford a good lawyer, because that's the only way anything can be done.

yes, it pays here to be very careful when buying land or property as to what might be built adjacent or block your view !   My Condo view is "fixed "  set back from the road , overlooking the pool and a quiet soi !!!   Unfortunately for those 20M roof Condos with their own pool , they now have a massive skyscraper Condo towering over them , looking down on their pool and now no privacy with the consequential drop in value !!     Someone else I know bought what they thought was a nice piece of land fronting a soi , built a nice house only to find someone started a recycle depot next door !!!   Buyer beware !!

Be thankful, they could have just as easily built a pig farm next door or even worse a karaoke with drunken morons singing until midnight seven days a week!
